We chose FWR for our Mom because Krysta and the staff went out of their way to find the best apt and welcome her to the facility. Even after moving in they have shown her above average attention. Our Mom says the food is terrific! Thanks for helping us navigate this difficult transition.

My mom has been living here for almost a few months now and she enjoys it for the most part. The staff and residents are friendly, the shared facilities are nice and there are a variety of activities to keep residents entertained. However, two areas of opportunity to improve are 1) food quality/variety and 2) staff support. The restaurant meal options are limited for those with more particular dietary restrictions. This is what my brother and I worry about most for our mom currently. With their monthly package, residents here get two meals a day (including a continental breakfast). Sometimes the menu options just dont work for my mom. My mom has given feedback to the chef and is hoping to see improvement - but perhaps it will take some time. Months in, she is definitely not getting her moneys worth on the food front and I think its very unfortunate. We also have concerns about available staff. Ive been told they are well staffed but we dont see that. There is turnover and I believe a staffing shortage. Tenants seem to accommodate time/services of what the staff can provide versus vice versa. Even if feedback from the tenants is strong in favor of some changes, it seems like the staffs hands are tied. This includes with meal service times and medical service support, which I both consider highly important for quality of living. Fortunately my mom has been okay without the medical services and has figured out how to deal with the meal service hours. I just think tenants deserve better. They pay a good amount to live here and should be able to enjoy their retirement and senior years at the fullest. Fortunately, very recently, it was announced that they hired a few additional team members for the restaurant. Hopefully my mom won't have to wait an hour for food anymore. Kitchens and bathrooms in the rooms need some upgrading/remodeling work as well. Outside of these areas, I don't want to overlook the good things about Fairwinds and want to see things get better to truly show they are amongst the top places for independent living. The staff that they have here are very nice and work incredibly hard. My mom is definitely happier being around the community of folks here!
