I don't write reviews nearly as much as some, but Ryan Alvaredes at My Tax Man is not a competant CPA. If you want to be Audited due to stupid omissions, this is your guy! Avoid this incompetant CPA, he will cost you a fortune and makes excuses. He should lose his license and he's also expensive for the JV work! Interestingly, I read his reviews of others and he has nothing good to say about anyone wherever he goes, just s#its on everyone and everything. What a miserable existance of a half pint man

I am appalled at the lack of customer service I received from Ryan at My Tax Man. I called their office to ask a simple tax question and was cut off mid-sentence and asked, "are you a client?" in which I answered that I was not. And he responds with "I can't help you" and hangs up. I immediately call back to ask his name, which he hesitates and states it is Ryan. I told him that it was extremely rude and unprofessional to just hang up on me. And he responds: "it is April 14th; I don't have a second to help anyone who is not a client, and it is rude that you called". I cannot believe that I just had this interaction. Absolutely unacceptable. Your response to my review is equally unprofessional. I was a new to your business, and I was never asked about becoming a client. You didn't have a second to help a new client but had a second to respond to my review. I promise you will NEVER have my business or the business of my family and friends. Good luck!

Ryan, the individual who runs this business, is incredibly rude. Im not joking, I would rather overpay on my taxes than utilize his services. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere.

I have figured out that this review is a response to my (completely valid) review of a shredding company we worked with. Your review is libel, as it is completely made up with no experience with me in the course of my business. I would recommend you take it down, and be careful when you post something that you can be legitimately sued for posting. For anyone else reading this, if you were a client of ours, I would certainly hope you would contact me if you were audited. Audits happen, though they are rare when the original return is properly prepared, but if one happens we would be there to support you along the way. To the internet trolls such as “TB,” go ahead and keep posting. I really don’t mind.

Gina’s review is almost accurate. I did say “I can’t help you”; I did add “thank you,” though, and then hung up. The big part that is missing is that the call started with “I am working on my tax returns, and have a couple questions.” I have zero patience for someone that would call up a tax preparation office on April 14th to get free advice so they can prepare their returns themselves. Would you call a doctor while they’re in surgery, and ask them to answer a medical question for free? I hope not. Our time is valuable, and someone that is going to completely disrespect it does not deserve a second of my time. My time is valuable, as is everyone’s time. If you aren’t going to show respect to the person you are taking time from, you don’t deserve their time.We aren’t about customer service. We are professionals that care about our clients. We want to see them succeed, we want them to be happy, we want them to know they are safe from the government, and most importantly we want to produce outstanding, accurate work for them. This is what we strive for with *our clients*. A random person that calls, thinking they deserve to take my time in the very peak of our busy season gets none of those considerations from me, and I will not apologize for that. You called back with a strong “let me speak to your manager” tone because some stranger offended you, so I hesitated before I responded because I was shocked at your gall.We receive several calls every day from people asking to be new clients, and we are too busy to spend time explaining anything to them or to help them out; we need to save that time to help our current clients, and make sure they are taken care of. We are nice enough to those that start a phone call politely, and not just with “I’m working on my taxes and have questions.” I know how hard it is out there to find a tax preparer – we, as a state, have lost 50% of our licensed preparers in the past two years, but we have limits and 14-hour work days 7 days a week is one of mine. So, to anyone reading this review – if you intend to call up and expect something just because you are a “customer” and the customer is always right, we aren’t the place for you. We deserve respect, just as every worker out there does. Our clients are the best, and treat us well; I feel sorry for those that don’t have the same regular clientele, such as those that work in food service, hospitality, and retail. I appreciate the fact that I have the freedom to be “rude” to random people that call in to waste my time, and can’t imagine what it’s like for those that don’t have that same freedom. People like Gina remind me to be extra nice when I interact with the workers of the world, and maybe someone else will read this review and be a little nicer, too.And Gina, in response to your edit, you’re missing the point. You don’t have the option of being a client, and neither do your friends or family. I don’t want you, because, as I said, you’re the type of person that would yell at a server for no reason. That type of person doesn’t deserve us. I hope you will one day realize how you interact with the world, and be a little kinder, but until that day, may you continue to struggle in finding good people to help you if all you’re going to do is take without being a good person in return.

You have never been a client of ours, and as best as I can tell, you haven't ever called or been into our office. So, it is obvious that you are adding an irrelevant/inappropriate review that should be removed. That said, thank you. You summed us up perfectly. Our number one priority is preparing accurate tax returns, and helping our clients be successful. We care about our clients, but “good” (generic, fake, nothing to back it up with) customer service is not what we strive for. If you care more about being treated with fake niceties and would rather pay too much tax, absolutely take your business elsewhere. That said, we aren't taking new clients right now, and when we are, we only take referrals from current clients. I know it's tough out there finding tax preparers, and wish I could help everyone that calls us, but we just don't have the time.
