I don't think many people realize that this page is not to review the eye center, but for the aesthetics department for the eye center.  I have been going here a little over a year and am pleased with all my appointments so far. From the staff to Dr. Cuite, I have not met an unfriendly face. Dr. Cuite and all the staff are helpful in answering your questions and getting you in and out quick but not making you feel rushed.I highly recommend all my friends and family out here and will continue to come back.

The doctors and staff are good but the wait time is absolutely ridiculous!!! I waited 1 whole hour before I even got called back to the office then they put the dilation drops in and I had to wait for another hour then another 30 minutes before I even laid eyes on the actual doctor! My appointment was a 10:00am I was on time and didn't walk out until 1:00pm 3 hours is way to long for an eye appointment! If I hadn't drove 45 minutes for the appointment I would have left.

Echoing in the "good docs, crappy service" sentiment others have said. I'm sending this to the Illinois Eye Center for whatever good it does: I am writing to complain about the ridiculous wait times I've encountered twice recently at the Illinois Eye Center.On my initial visit (March 7) I had a 48-minute wait followed by a 10-minut wait.On my most recent visit (March 28)--which is prompting this email--my appointment was for 2:55. I did not get to see the doctor until 4:50!!I had an initial 30-minute wait, followed by a 45-minute wait. The latter was so outrageous I went to the nurses' desk to complain. I was given the standard "oh, you're next) line and taken into a room where I waited another 15 minutes until the doctor came in.That's 90 minutes of waiting.That's totally unacceptable.I know you're the only game in town and you can just laugh this off but I'll be back only under the most dire of circumstances and I will raise a fuss once I'm waiting 31 minutes. And I will be advising friends and work colleagues about what they're in for on any potential visit and suggest they bring a copy of "War and Peace."Shame on you for running a medical establishment that makes people wait two hours past their appointment time.

Dr. Steve Lichtenstein is amazing with my now 4 1/2 year old. She's been seeing him since she was 8 or 9 months old about every 3-4 months. He really developed a bond with her. She loves going. Can hardly wait for her next appointment.I was very surprised that Dr. Steve didn't immediately send my daughter to surgery, which originally we thought we definitely had to have happen based on what her primary optometrist and pediatric optometrist said when referring her to an ophthalmologist,  however he patched her for 6 months or so and put glasses on her. He wanted to make sure that her eye turn issue couldn't be corrected in another way first. So glad for that, but like I said, surprised a surgeon didn't just want to go straight to surgery.All of the staff is friendly and not only good with my kid but also can talk to me about her appointment in a way I can understand what is going on with her eyes. They are good at sharing her appointment info with her optometrist and giving me paperwork for her daycare provider.The optical department is very expensive. If you do not have insurance coverage for that than you will have to make sure you get the dr to write you a prescription to take somewhere else. They quoted me $360 for glasses for my toddler who was going through about 3 pairs a year due to her growing, prescription changes, and accidentally damages.The wait time is often long. On multiple occasions we haven't been called back until an hour or more after our appointment time. So bring a book or something to do in the waiting room. I think the earliest we ever got called back was 10 minutes after our appointment time.Also there are not enough restrooms.  We have to drive 2 hours to get there then wait in line at the restroom. We have now gotten in the habit of stopping at the gas station on our way into town.TLDR: dr awesome, staff good, pricey, wait time awful, not enough potties
