I was a good customer for many years and spent about $8000 on several dental procedures for my dog, I paid him in full after every visit and carried no balance, however he passed away from cancer, the vet charged me $500 to tell me there was nothing he could do which I thought was a slap in my face and predatory pricing. Anyway I called them today to bring in my new dog to to be seen by the vet and the office person told me since it's a new dog I have to pay an upfront $70 deposit over the phone just to to make an appointment, and the exam would be more, I felt humiliated, disrespected after she cut me off when I told her I would pay for the visit at time of exam. They have no respect, shame for any one or any animal, this is a whepenized predator operation and there are many other vets out there like the one I called with no upfront over phone deposit before they see you.

My wife and I had a Shih Tzu which we loved so much. When we took Sophie to this Veterinarian clinic she weighted 10.4 pounds. We kept taking her because she was pooping blood and having continous diarrhea, lysergic and having no appetite , We were alarmed ,so we kept taking her to this vet and the only thing that this vet do is more tests and more money. This vet could not figured out why little Sophie was losing weight so rapidly and pooping blood, being lysergic, and having no appetite. To me this vet was not trained to handle problems of little dog, Shih Tzus. Finally on February 21,2024 we took little Sophie to this vet again and the vet the only thing he did was prescribed medicines for her diarrhea and took her temperature because she was too cold. The vet referred us to the a veterinary clinic. When we took little Sophie her head was limp and the emergency clinic vet told us that little Sophie passed away. My wife and I were crying a lot and we are still mourning because this vet should have pay more attention to Sophie's health problem. We had more money than this vet. I have a Doctorate and I know the vet was more interested in ordering labs and doing more tests which is how this vet generated their money . I have filed a complain with the State Board of Veterinary Practice. Worst experience with this vet we have had. See little Sophie alive and well and little Sophie passed away in my arms.

Horrible vet clinic. The staff is wonderful except for the actual veterinary. He is scared of any dog that isn't a golden retriever. The clinic is money driven and prescribes the most expensive medication and refuses to prescribe cheaper options that are equally effective. They charge an "aggressive" pet fee if your dog shows any signs of discomfort. The vet prescribed my dog Gabapentene (a muscle relaxant) and ordered us to give her THREE pills for her next visit. They said she's not allowed in the lobby and only two specific technicians are allowed to treat her. We asked them to cut her nails and all they did was slightly file them down and charged us a ridiculous amount for it. Save your time and your money. Not worth coming in. The only good part is the assistants, especially Juan, who is very kind and ACTUALLY cares about ALL animals.

If you are needing an emergency vet, do not come to Hiawassee Veterinary Clinic. I went to Hiawassee frantically after observing my cat show signs of distress refusing to eat, etc. I called over 25 vets trying to get her seen as my vet who normally saw her was out sick that day. Hiawassee was able to see her that day. At first, I was impressed at how clean the facility is and the friendliness of the front desk receptionist. And the Office Manager. However, when the vet came in, he picked up my cat, told me she needed surgery and that she was going to die. The very first thing. My nerves were already shot and for the vet to go from 0- 120 in less than 2 seconds only made matters worse. Come to find out, what the vet thought the diagnosis was, was not. The vet sedated my cat to have a ultrasound and IV fluids in. But did not provide any additional help. He left the room to attend to other pets while my cat died. Literally. He showed no compassion but only seemed to care about the bottom line. And, I never saw him again. To make matters worse, after my beloved fur baby passed away, we started to discuss the next steps as far cremation versus burial, etc. I opted for cremation and to have her ashes spread over a garden, which the Vet Office assured me would happen. Furthermore, I asked for a paw print and for my beloved cat's name to be on the paw print. However, when I received the paw print, it is super tiny and my cat's name is not on the paw print. Instead, the pet angel memorial center carved the ID they gave her on the back of the paw print. How insensitive, ruthless and inconsiderate! Based off of the paw print, It looks like Pet Angel was rough with my baby. It makes me feel so sad. I called Pet Angel to ensure that my cat's remains were spread over the garden, as I was informed from the Vet's office only to find out that the Pet Angel does NOT have a garden!!!!!!! I am so heartbroken at How I and my fur baby was treated. I think the Vet is smart; however, his bed side manners are horrific and has no business seeing emergency appointments if he can't keep his composure to ensure that the animal welfare comes first and to keep the pet parents calm until there is a definite diagnosis. I'm heartbroken by the whole situation and the fact that I can't get my cat's remains back. Had I known she would be treated so poorly, I would have asked her remains to be sent back to me. Losing a family member, which a pet certainly is, is hard enough, but to add everything else onto it, only magnifies the situation. While the office manager showed great compassion, I will never have any future fur babies seen at Hiawassee Vet Clinic. I have lost all trust and confidence in this Clinic.

We appreciate your feedback and your kind words for our technical staff, as it helps us to improve our client service. We are not finding an account with your name, or any recently charged aggressive exam fees. We do not charge this fee on a regular basis. Please call the clinic to discuss your experience further.
