I can't understand why the Oceanside school district tolerates Bullying among employees...Its been reported to Grounds management but the Hostile Harrasment just got worse...they let people come in whenever and then leave early before their shift is over...To me that is stealing....
Bullying is not with the students but also in employment too....Grounds management is just letting it happen....Why....You get a new title and just take advantage of it

Oceanside Unified School district, including their transportation is incredibly disorganized and untrustworthy. They have again and again not lived up to their word, as a board by shutting down multiple schools and taking away transportation from needy families to whom they promised transportation because they closed many families home school. This week I have had two incidents with OUSD transportation. First, my child was left at home alone by the bus driver. S/He was making their way out to the bus after hearing it arrive and the bus driver was running late on her schedule so she left before s/he could close the door to the house. They failed to inform me that s/he was not picked up in the morning (which they have previously called me if s/he didn't come outside to see if s/he was needing transportation for that particular morning, several other times) and was consequently left at home alone all day. They would not return to pick up my child nor did they take any responsibility, nor even apologize about the incident. Today, my child did not come home on the bus. How did I find this out? When I arrived home at 5pm and s/he was not there. I called transportation and they said they didn't know where my child was, the bus driver for the route already returned the bus and clocked out. Nor did they have any record of what time my child was dropped off through their bus log. I had to drive to the school to look for my child, praying the after school care let s/him stay and for whatever reason, did not call me to let me know s/he was on campus. Thank God I found my child without the help of anyone from OUSD. Now we are moving to another district ASAP. sadly to say I'm an Oceanside local and I do not recommend anyone bringing their child to this district as it is.

I was a substitute teacher at this school district for 6 months. During my times I was there, a principle did not support me when a 13 year old student was missing school to go to work. Instead the principal told me that I didn't belong there and that I shouldn't work there and that I should leave. When I reached out to the district to leave phone calls I did not get any calls back. I was not calling them about the student who was missing school to work, I was calling them about a teacher who actually screamed into a students ear. I never got a call back. Besides for that, the district tries to cut corners in their special education department by hiring special education subs instead of hiring actual education specialists who are unionized. They are now being sued for providing inadequate learning materials. I'm glad I didn't wast more than 6 months there.

Oceanside Unified is an amazing district. The staff at the District level to the teachers, site administrators, grounds keepers and cafeteria and beyond are truly professionals who take extreme pride in educating the children I highly recommend this district to anyone thinking of moving to Oceanside.
