The entire staff are warm, kind, and welcoming. Always feels like I'm visiting friends! I've moved to Richmond but would rather make the 1 hour 45 min. drive than find another practice. They always explain the good and "bad" thoroughly, as well as other options available, prior to any treatment. Complete trust in the team!

Dr. Peter J. Vonu knowingly and willingly violated the Informed Consent clause located in the (Code of Ethics of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons) when he (Vonu) utilized his discretion to alter and/or change the surgical procedure patient provided written consent for on January 4, 2024 without informing patient as a requisite to receiving informed consent. In a synopsis, Dr. Peter J. Vonu received patients consent on January 4, 2024 to perform a combination surgery of gynecomastia and liposuction 360 of the abdomen and back; however, that IS NOT the procedure the surgeon performed. Dr. Vonu chose to utilize his personal discretion after patient was incapacitated from general anesthesia to alter the treatment plan/surgical procedure patient issued consent to. Unbeknownst to patient until March 18, 2024 at his THIRD post-operation appointment (approximately 74 days after surgery date) there was an alleged misquote of services and payment issue that arose the day of surgery which caused Dr. Vonu to forego a portion of procedure he received consent for. On March 18, 2024 at complainants third post-operation appointment he (again) complained about the lack of results from the surgical procedure and it was at that time where he was informed that he DID NOT have the surgical procedure he was told he would receive. Allegedly, the complainants original procedure coordinator, Angilene Phillips, provided a misquoted surgical procedure estimate and was terminated due to such error. However, this issue did not arise until the day of complainants surgical procedure and he was never informed of the alleged issue. Dr. Peter Vonu stated on March 18, 2024 that, he did not feel comfortable performing the liposuction 360 portion of the surgery because it had not been paid for and that he had to make a judgment call based upon the circumstances at the time. Again, the financial circumstance(s) that Dr. Peter Vonu referenced were wholly unknown to patient until March 18, 2024 the circumstances that caused a significant change in the procedure would have undoubtedly caused complainant to withdraw all consent; however, complainant never received the new information or the option to provide (informed) consent based on said new information. It was not until seventy four (74) days later at his third post-operation appointment where he was advised that he did not receive the surgery he thought was performed. Up until that point, Dr. Peter J. Vonu led the patient to believe that the full surgery was performed and that the reason he had yet to see results was attributed to swelling. This bombshell was deliberately kept from complainant for a multitude of reasons. Dr. Vonu should have never made the first incision on complainant having knowledge and new information that caused him to alter surgical procedure yet failed to communicate it to patient and obtain informed consent for a new procedure. Do yourself a favor and find an alternative company to Plastic Surgery Center of Hampton Roads, otherwise you risk running into situations like this as this place has no integrity - it simply is all about the money. If you have been a victim of this surgeons unethical conduct, start with contacting the Department of Health Professions and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
