Los Gordos Cuban Food

You'll drive right past this place if you're not careful! I really enjoyed my lunch here. I've never really had Cuban cuisine before, so everything was new. I played it safe with a Cuban sandwich, fries, and a tamale. Everything was great! They guys behind the counter were friendly, and the restaurant has some interesting decor - it reminds me of one of those "hole-in-the-wall" places that only locals know about, but serve amazing food. I'll definitely be going back for more!

To put in plain and simple, the food was NOT within the Cuban standards for taste. Very bland in taste and texture. The rice had to be pre-boiled and was "mushy." The beans were just very "flat" tasting with absolutely NO AUTHENTIC SPANISH F L A V O R. I can see why they went out of business. What an insult to my Spanish culture!! Too bad...

The Sandwich Cubano had very little ham and pork compared to what I am accustomed to, but I've neither eaten a Cuban sandwich in Cuba nor in Florida, so maybe I am expecting the wrong thing. I'm also used to this type of sandwich packing a bit more flavor. However, you can get a side of their absolutely delicious mojo sauce to add to your sandwich, and this more than made up for it. If I had known in advance how good their mojo sauce was, I would have ordered from fried yucca to dip in it.
