If you thought the days of a friendly, neighborhood NYC pharmacy were gone, you haven't been to Chateau! Morry & Jay run a "know your name" type establishment that I feared was lost in the increasingly corporate, faceless Rx era of CVS & Duane Reade. They have gone out of their way many times to help my family get what we needed. It is a pleasure to have them in our neighborhood and do business with the good folks at Chateau!

I've been stopping in at this UWS fixture for years to grab OTC medicines or hard-to-find items, but just this week I started utilizing Chateau's pharmacy services...all I can say is WOW!! After the Duane Reade on Broadway closed, I figured it was a sign to finally take my business more locally. I was not used to the pharmacist answering the phone personally (unlike at big chains, where you are put on hold forever), ensuring my prescription and insurance processing would be handled with care and expertise. Then, when picking up my prescription today (in record time, compared to the days it usually took for Duane Reade to process), I had an actual conversation with Morry the pharmacist, who personally processed my order and left me with a handshake. It's hard to find that level of personal service these days and in this city, but my hats off to Morry and the staff at Chateau...you definitely earned my repeat business!!

I thought this place would turn out to be a welcome respite from the long lines and eternal phone wait with Duane Reade, but thanks to two employees who often work up front at this pharmacy, I am moving my prescriptions elsewhere. The service from these two is incredibly unpleasant. There is a third individual up front who I see from time to time who is polite and professional, but he is not there much of the time. Every time I go in when the two rude employees are present, the guys are snickering, passing notes to each other, or rolling their eyes. Never do these two offer a Good morning, How are you?, or a Have a good day. Not even a thank-you. This I only get from the third employee. One of the two problem employees got annoyed on a certain occasion, mumbling something rude under his breath, because I dared to spell my last name for him to make it easier to find my prescription. Never in my life have I received a reaction like this for spelling out my name. Sorry for trying to help you do your job faster and more easily! The pharmacists are nice and helpful here. Also, the prices on many drugs are better than at DR and CVS. The immaturity and unprofessionalism of the staff highlighted, however, is simply unacceptable. Maybe thats why the place is always empty. I guess the high-priced items for the infirm and elderly keep them in business. Luckily, this neighborhood has other independent pharmacies with the same pricing, so I dont have to suffer any longer.
