What a mistake to move here. This is an old NYC rent controlled building/complex that's made a few changes and renovation to emptied apartments to try to pass as a high end UWS rental. It's still operated like an old rent-control building with poor maintenance. We're paying market rates for what is marketed as a one bedroom when it's actually a large studio with a sliding door dividing the living room and tiny bedroom. It wouldn't be so bad if the facility and maintence made up for the high rent. Elevators are not kept clear, hall corridor floors are rarely vacuumed, lobby elevators are a mess of rust, plaint, neglect - we were made to believe that there was construction going on that would leave all in excelent condition. It's We were scamed. Now we're stuck with an 18 month lease. Be warey.....

Please note that Park West Village Tenants Association is NOT the same as the management of Park West Village, nor associated with it in any way, except to advocate for the tenants, and therefore to maintain dialogue with management as necessary. PWVTA has voluntary membership dues and voluntary participation. PWVTA represents and advocates for ALL 2500 tenants in the seven buildings, including condo owners, statutory (rent stabilized) tenants, and market-rate tenants. Although many past issues and victories focus on rights of statutory tenants (such as opposition to MCI rent increases,) all tenants benefit from improved services, more reliable and convenient mail and package delivery, cleaner laundry rooms, better security at entries and exits, responsible use of dog runs including odor and noise there, consistent maintenance of trees and plantings, acknowledgment of interest on security deposit for all tenants, and especially the vigorous opposition of construction on open space. Despite occasional serious issues with management, we have loved living here for more than 42 years.
