As a resident its a pretty decent place to live, close to campus, not too expensive, pretty nice rooms and decent appliances. Also as a resident I have some issues with Bierman. One thing to be aware of is that if you get a room on the side of the building with construction going on, you will be woken up by it almost every single day. The construction starts around 7 usually but they will wake you even earlier some days. Bierman will not tell you this because its hell. As a student Im lucky that I usually wake up around this time for class but even so the construction has woken me up at 6am multiple times and caused me trouble sleeping. One of the reasons I am moving is because of the noise but also because the building they are building is going to make living in bierman less enjoyable as a resident. The new building will completely cover any sunlight you would normally get in your room, and will result in a much more industrial feel. I do not want to look a a building every day. I like to look out the window and see the sky. Overall the apartment is nice but the external factors of living here make is much worse and I would definitely consider the construction when deciding if you want to live here. The picture also was taken at 6:22 am and if I could upload a video you would be able to hear how loud it is. (It was really loud)

After living in this apartment for the past year, I feel dissatisfied with my time here. Price: You really do have high electricity costs in the apartment that seem high (4 bed 2 bath ran us from $40-70 a month each). Other than that, the apartment itself was fairly cheap. Very few places you can get your own room this close to campus for under $1,000. Heating/cooling: Poor experience with this. I had my heating in my room go out for two days in December and had to live with blue toes and layers in my own apartment. Air conditioning is only in the main area (not in the rooms), and our air conditioning in the living room did not work, plus the heating/cooling unit made loud clunking noises. Fans and personal heaters running a bunch will truly drive up your electric bill if you're planning on being more comfortable. Bathrooms: Large bathroom area. Small shower, my roommate and I put our armoires in the bathroom instead of our rooms due to space constraints in the room itself. With both pseudo-closets in the bathroom, I could not sit on the toilet straight-on, but rather had to move my legs and sit somewhat sideways to fit (I'm 5'8", not that tall). I think it was a lot of wasted space. Bedrooms: Small, but livable. Enough room for the desk, bed, and maybe a mini fridge (you'll need it). I felt my biggest issue with this was the temperature control, otherwise I am satisfied with the bedroom. I do have a lot of clothes, so the armoire and pull-out spaces under the bed was not enough, but that is mostly my problem. Outlets are spaced out in a manner that makes them easily accessible even with all of the furniture in the room. Appliances: The freezer opens every time you close the refrigerator door. If you forget, it can be left open (costly and spoils some of the food). The stove and microwave work just fine. I think the white color is reflective of the time period it was installed, and you have to keep it clean, but they work well. Also, we had a TV already in our room which was great, but our neighbors did not. My roommates and I also had trouble with our furnishing requests (one did not want a bed and she got it, one wanted her armoire in her room and it was in the bathroom). Parking lot: The visitor parking is half blocked by posts, so it is difficult to park there. The surface-level lots are incredibly hard to leave. If you have a visitor, the parking passes are hard to get because you have to catch the office at a time it is open and get one. Maintenance: Maintenance requests are ranked on priority, and my heating repair came relatively fast. I felt as though I saw the same poor man each time, who tried to fix the clunking in our heating/cooling unit and fixed our air conditioning for the last few weeks. The man who did help us each time was incredibly kind, and he helped the first night I moved in when there was flooding below the kitchen sink, my window leaked with the rain, and our drain was clogged. I feel like they did what they could with what seemed like one man who was there. Laundry: This was the biggest struggle. There are two washers/dryers on each floor, and I had to time it well with my schedule. One of the dryers on my floor did not accept my card, and one of the washers had the card slot hanging by its wires, which was concerning to me at times. The washers were a little gross, and I would occasionally find a nicotine patch or items that were not mine on the sides of the washer. The dryer was pretty good, I just had a lot trouble timing the one dryer that worked for me with the washer. There was also one week where there was a door off one washer (so it didn't work), and another washer just said "out of order," so I had to go to a lower floor for my laundry, which was an inconvenience for them as well as me. So, to conclude, the apartment itself is not great. That being said, it offers a lower price than you would get for any other unshared room in the Dinkytown area. It is livable and a place to stay if you really do want your own room and the location for a low price.
