image Wonderful K-12 education that includes several languages, music and the arts! The children are held in a free, morally responsible way and graduate with social competence.

image Exactly what I hoped for when looking for a school for my children- best parenting decision I've ever made was to sign my children up for PWS!!

image I have noticed that PWS has successfully had 3 other negative reviews removed of their school and are listed in not recommended reviews below. I also read on another site that there were many other reviews removed as well from families who had less than stellar experiences here:The Waldorf mentality is not for everyone but can be lovely for some for many positive reasons. A few that come to mind are tolerance and acceptance, nurturing and comfort space, creativity, and appreciation of natural materials. As a family, we love bits and pieces of it. Our experience for our family with PWS was a disappointment. The school is dogmatic and very un evolved in terms of updating much thought about ancient Waldorf curriculum. It's not a breeding ground for free choice but rather appreciates families and students who subscribe to one way of thought without question. The whole school seems to me to thrive on the "don't ask questions, just listen to the way we do normal" with their whole dynamic. They don't seem willing to acknowledge the idea that any part of their approach may have room for growth or evolution, but rather seem quick to dismiss students and parents who complain or openly share differing views from what I can tell. It seems sort of ironic given the profound leftist views of the community. There is one female teacher in particular who seems to have agitated quite a few parents over the years from anecdotal stories, and my own. My child didn't have her but I had enough interaction with her to agree with some other parents and was particularly displeased to hear the way the school handled complaints. She's rough around the edges and came across to me as judgy and unwilling to self examine. It appears to me to be her way or the highway and the school goes with that which is sad because they're deterring wonderful minds because of it. A few teachers are gems and it's a gamble which one will lead your child on their journey. With regards to academics, it's the same attitude: that you have to trust the Waldorf method and not question why your 1st grader isn't being taught to read or write the alphabet. That is partially Waldorf but also-I missed the dialogue that I had wanted for children who are at times very behind public schools curriculum wise. I'm not attacking all Waldorfs. Maybe their style is best for kids, but when you can't question things safely..it made me wonder. The school seemed to me to maintain its stance on uniformity and not reward much individuality. There is a creative cohesive spirit interwoven throughout but parts seemed cold. It's a very old school, dogmatic Waldorf environment where crunchy anti western medicine families thrive in their common ground hidden from the norms of outside society, devising a mutually agreed upon contract that shields their offspring from outside cultural influence and "perils" of technology and free thought as they appear to me to see it. I've given some time between our experience and my review in order to thoughtfully reflect now that my child's settled and happy with an alternate learning environment. I would not recommend this school based on what I want in a school for our whole family. It really seemed to me that they are looking for one particular type of parent and child and that is all. We didn't fit their model and I'm okay with that because I'm glad to live in this century's ideals and lifestyle.
