I actually wish I could give no stars. Northwest was a complete nightmare during an already sad time. I think being Black owned I would be wrong if I just point out negatives. Northwest was very cost effective and maybe thats what it is. You get what you pay for. However, Northwest could use a lot of updating and overall revamping of the mission. They overbook. Treat families like a paycheck and are very behind in the times. If you are in the business of bereavement families should feel at peace and we did not have that feeling. We were traumatized by the moving of my sisters open casket in front of everyone from the over flow room to the main room. That was very tacky and unprofessional. And then when questioned about it we are told well this is how we always do it excuse me thats not ok. Ill never use or recommend northwest again.

Very rude. I called to ask a question about the funeral, when I asked a question she seemed put off, as if I was interrupting her day. I wanted to know if it was open casket or closed because I have past traumas, knowing if it's open I would be triggered. She snapped says harshly "maam is there something I can help you with" I replied " I just asked you a question, do you have a problem with my question, and me trying to get there for my dear friend and restated why I asked my question". No one who has loss a wife, sister, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend should have to endure harshness in the midst of mourning. Lack of compassion at its finest, harsh tone & rude beyond.

I tried to coordinate some logistics over the phone - woman was very short, seemed to not want to be bothered with me and made no attempt to understand & accommodate my needs.

We chose Northwest for my great grandmothers funeral. Getting it scheduled was pretty simple aside from a double booking that lead us to have a two hour visitation. The good to that was it was at no additional cost. They did a nice job with my grandmothers body. They made her look very nice and lode herself. She didnt have on too much makeup just beautiful. The funeral director and directors assistance that conducted the funeral for my family were not friendly or showed empathy to what was going on. They made me feel like our family was just another check to them. Everything felt rushed which I feel instead of adding an hour to visitation we could have had an hour on the service so my grandmother could be celebrated properly. None of us were greeted upon arrival although several staff sat at the door when we arrived. We chose Northwest because we thought it would be a nice choice for our family but the way we were treated was not right. I described some of it but thats only the half. Please undergo some empathy training. If youre tired of the business train some younger individuals to take over who have passion and pride and are able to empathize with grieving families and know how to communicate with them. Also communicate before funeral day family wishes such as in reference to the processional, and opening and closing of the casket. The two stars is due to the funeral home making my grandmother look nice.

This facility is very unprofessional. I called to get an understanding of an itemized cost my father just paid and the lady whom answered the phone was very rude. My father decided to go with another funeral home, but the nursing home sent her to Northwest. We asked her to be transferred to another facility, which I understand would come at a cost since a minimal service was rendered. Since we did not use their service they charged us $795.00 for picking her up from the nursing home and holding her. I asked the lady to elucidate and she told me the pickup was $595.00 but since we didn't use them they charged us a transfer fee which in total now will be $795.00. I understand business and fees, but this is price gouging and egregious. Due to the current volatile climate in the area, I know that they receive a significant amount of business and may be good at it, but that cost and not being able to explain it is ridiculous. I would not refer this facility to my worse enemy. I will say the young lady who took over the call was much more palatable and professional. Be cautious about their prices. I do know that everyone is not being charged the same prices; moving target.
