This review is for the parents debating whether or not to enter your child in Karate. My answer is 100% yes. Yes, to karate but a yes to THIS karate school. Im not a religious person by any means so the fact that Traditional Karate and Aikido is a Christian Martial Arts didnt deter me in any way. Once my son and I watched a kids class, I realized that this school promoted self-confidence, respect for all and discipline. These are the main reasons why I want my son here. Training with Traditional Karate and Aikido for only three months now, I have seen my sons confidence grow. On his very first class, he was too shy to even stand! He did the whole class sitting down. Shihan Smith was very patient with him and even had the class do blocks from a sitting position in order to make my son more comfortable. Its little personalization and attention to detail to my sons learning are reasons Im going to stay and invite others to join. After my sons first class, he told me that hell never give up on karate. As a parent, that made me happy and felt proud. Shihan Smiths teaching style is tradition based mixed in with common sense. Its empowerment. Its knowing right from wrong. Its being a good person and doing good. Having that kind of mindset will not only teach my son to do well in karate, but in life as well. After putting in time and practice, Shihan invited my son to test for his yellow belt. I love the fact that he earned something on his own and also Shihan Smith has evaluated him and will allow him to test. This shows me that its not about buying a belt and ranked up because you can. Its earned. Shihan Smith wants to build the character to succeed. This just motivates my son to want to learn even more and that is a true testament to Shihan Smiths ability as an expert teacher. I highly recommend.

This is the best place I found to teach Karate. The teacher is not just a teacher of Karate movements. He teaches self-discipline. Even his monthly installments are very acceptable in relation to all the places around him.

This dojo represents and teaches a true form of the "martial way." Shihan Stan lives by his martial-code and instructs by the same code. The atmosphere, acceptance, and camaraderie are genuine and yet disciplined. It is an ideal environment for self-study, practice, and advancement. This is true for the children's classes to the adults.

We are very happy with Shihan Smith's dojo. My child has been attending for over three years and has received not only good martial arts instruction but good life instruction there. We appreciate the fact that Shihan Smith incorporates Christian values into the training. Our child has improved his physical fitness and coordination, and has developed greater confidence and maturity under this training. The training is not rushed to promote to new belts before the student has actually developed the appropriate skills. Shihan Smith is very hands-on with the training and straightforward with parents about how their child is performing.
