My daughter was there for 3 years and we have good memories of this place. They have 3 different class (north, center and south class ) depending the kids' edge. The teachers are lovely, we felt genuine human care. The place is cozy and full of light . You feel at home. My daughter loved it.

What a gem of a school. Both of my children attended Montessori School of La Jolla from ages 20 months through the end of TK. The teachers, including Ms. Paola, Ms. Jacky, Ms. Bera, Ms. Carolina, and Ms. Merily, were are so loving, kind and patient in help raise our little babies, we could not have dreamed of a better school for their early years of life. Both of our kids continue to be at the top of their classes academically and more importantly, have a strong love of learning that we are certain was established during their Montessori years. Our kids know how to treat their friends with love, compassion and kindness and they are able to feel empathy. Montessori gave them a well rounded education in a loving environment. My kids looked forward to going to school everyday. We still have all of their beautiful artwork from Montessori covering the walls of our home! We often wish this school would go through elementary school because there is truly no other school like it. They have mastered the balance between academics, discipline and love. It's amazing.

This school is terrible. I sent my daughter here for about 1 year and although the younger teacher was great the rest of the teachers are not passionate or caring. In addition the school is very cold in the winter and the school nickels and dimes you. Not only do you have to pay a paper processing fee each semester (even if they stay in the same room) you have to pay it twice in the summer because they have two sessions. If your child attends after care you are required to bring snack for the entire class a few times a month. Lastly even though you are paying tuition you are also required to supply your child with their own pens, pencils and glue. Just one of these extra costs is not a big deal but it just shows that this school is only interested in making money. When I finally left, the school wrote an evaluation to the school district because they had thought she was behind. The school district and other professions felt this evaluation was so off that they had to discard it. Bottom line the school itself is really cute but they dont know what they are doing. I ended up sending my child to another Montessori school where she excelled, was supported and where I was kept in the loop about everything she was doing. Had I known then what a good school was like I would have taken my child out earlier.

My son attended this school for 2.5 years and I was very impressed by the Montessori school structure. He definitely learned something new every day and enjoyed his time at this school. The teachers are very nice, caring, and dedicated. Several of them have been there for so many years! He had a great bond with his teachers there during his last year and he loved his center class teachers. He still asks to go back and say hello to them. Our daughter recently started in the toddler class (she is 2 years old) and she loves it. Such a wonderful and caring group of teachers. Thank you Montessori School of La Jolla.* update As of August 2018 * As of the start of the 2017/18 school year, this school made such wonderful changes. They now have an amazing assistant Director. Her name Is Ms. Marily. Ever since in her new role (transition from Lead teacher in Center class), Ms. Marily has made such wonderful improvements, she appreciates parent feedback, she's there to greet the parents in the mornings (always with a smile), she takes time to speak with parents as questions arise, and she works very hard in her new role. I've been so happy to see these changes. The teachers also continue to be amazing as always. I send my kids to this school because I know they are being taught by such amazing and caring teachers and the school has a lovely assistant directorWho has been involved with the school for many years.
