I would not recommend Advanced Medical Imaging to anyone, especially not to anyone needing trauma- informed care. I informed AMI staff that I had past trauma and anxiety from a previous MRI experience when I scheduled via phone, on my paperwork at check in and verbally in the consultation room. I had a PTSD trauma response episode while in the facility. Upon trying to leave, I was only able to get a few steps outside the clinic before panic took over. It was dark (after 8:00pm). I was hunched down on the sidewalk, hyperventilating, crying, dissociated, and not able to communicate well. A staff member opened the door, saw me, and spoke to me. I cannot remember exactly what was said (common for this type of episode). The staff member then locked the doors, turned out the lights and left the lobby area from which I was visible. My husband was home caring for our child. I called him on speaker phone, which is one of my practiced coping skills. Once he figured out I was outside, on the sidewalk and it was cold and dark, he was able to coach me to get into my vehicle, which was parked right out in front of the building. I remained in a similar state as listed above inside my vehicle while calling a trusted support person on speaker phone. While she was coaching me and trying to get me to stop hyperventilating, the entire remaining staff (at least 4 cars) walked out the side of the building, got in their vehicles, and drove past me sitting in my vehicle while they were leaving the parking lot. My anxiety increased and my hyperventilation became worse after seeing the staff leave. My support person had to drive to where I was to ensure my safety, as there were no other people around to make sure I was safe and recovered. It is unacceptable and dangerous for any staff to leave someone with a known anxiety issue alone while hunched on the ground, crying, and hyperventilating in the dark on the sidewalk outside a medical facility. There seems to be a lack of not only trauma informed training, but also basic safety training for the staff at this facility. For safety, basic human dignity, and negligence reasons, I would not recommend this facility to anyone.
