Hearing Specialty Center

Update: January 2024 I still recommend the Hearing Specialty Center! Needed some updates from last year and felt well taken care of and listened to. I would very much recommend! Dr. Hoyden listened to my concerns and questions. She addressed them professionally and made sure I understood while also making suggestions for me to consider so that my hearing aids worked their best for my needs. Thanks!

Cherrie Hoyden is condescending and incompetent. My mother went to her and purchase some top of the line Bluetooth compatible hearing aids. First they were fit incorrectly so they kept popping out of her ears. It took many attempts to get them fixed because Ms Hoyden wouldn't listen. Then she gave her the wrong size ear bud covers as well to use with her old hearing aids. She was still using them most of the time because the new ones have had so many issues. She went in because she had an ear ache Cherrie claimed there was nothing in her ear. Two weeks later she went to her GP because her ear was still throbbing and keeping her awake. Her doctor pulled out not just 1 but 2 of the ear bud covers from her right ear!!! When my mom called to tell her about it she accused her of being dirty and stupid and took zero accountability. My mother's new hearing aids don't work most of the time and if they disconnect or need an update she has to go into the office to have it fixed which is completely unacceptable. It seems as though this shows how domineering and controlling Cherrie Hoyden is. Don't visit her unless you like to be verbally abused.

Yes, I gave five stars with my first review and now, one. When they could not repair a problem with one hearing aid that malfunctioned, the manufacturer offered a generous price on a new set. $500 each is phenomenal but the only way I could get this price was to skirt insurance and go through HSC. However, that meant I would be charged a fitting fee set by the practice. I don't know about you but the numbers tell the story: $1000 for the hearing aids, $2200 for fitting fee. You do the math.

I recently went to have my hearing tested. I was glad to hear that right now it is up to me. The main thing I learned from Dr Cherri is that tinnitus is a sound coming from my brain. Hearing aids may or may not fix tinnitus and that was my main concern.  I have decided to wait. But she said she said I would qualify but at this time it was up to me. I really appreciated her honesty and when I decide to get hearing aids I will go back to her.
