Be grateful if you never need their services. Be even more grateful if you *do*. Castle Biosciences provides the only tumor-typing test available for uveal melanoma patients. UM (also called OM, for ocular melanoma) is rare, and therefore misunderstood and underserved by medical professionals and insurers alike. Unfortunately, UM can also be aggressive, requiring close monitoring. Castle's Decision DX test tells you which type of UM you have, and whether close monitoring and aggressive treatment is required. If (like mine) your insurance company refuses to pay for the test, Castle *will not* push the cost of that test back on you. The folks at Castle have been wonderful during my "trial by fire." I remain profoundly grateful that they're doing this work, and doing it well.
