image Suspicious billing practices. I am a well-established patient here (PCP, specialists, family, all that jazz). Called for a same-day appointment and got one with a PA. The appointment was billed/coded as a new patient visit, despite my long history with the facility. Requested a a billing review and they said it's right. I was charged double for a visit because I was erroneously coded as a "new patient", more than any specialist visit I've had there, with a PHYSICIAN's ASSISTANT no less. The review said that new patients are defined as 3-months, but literally everywhere online (including AAFP define new as 3-years or more between visits). Pretty ridiculous and suspicious billing practices.

image Their billing practices are predatory. I've attempted to resolve this directly with Sutter multiple times through their billing and patient relations department with no luck, so I just want to make sure other prospective patients know what they are likely to experience. Looking at other reviews, I experienced exactly what others did during my first, and only, visit here.
I went in for an annual physical, and was asked if I had any other questions or concerns. I answered that I wanted to ensure my overall health, because I'm planning to start a family. They didn't provide any specific information in response (other than telling me to talk to my OBGYN), but still took that as license to charge me for an extra doctor's office visit for "counseling for pregnancy". My husband also told his Sutter doctor he was checking on his health for family planning but didn't get charged extra.
When I disputed the bill through the billing department, they said the documentation supported the coding, despite explaining my situation on the phone. So I emailed the patient relations department to explain again that I neither asked for nor received "counseling for pregnancy" but they dismissed me again. The patient relations department even had the audacity to say that they value me as a patient, but wouldn't I be more valuable as a returning patient than a unhappy one-time patient?
So if you still choose to try Sutter despite the reviews, just beware of them baiting you during your visit so they can find something extra to charge you on, and then prepare for the billing and patient relations department to dismiss you.

image They will make you come in person to get appointment for urgent care. Then come back and wait an hour again for your appointment. Why can't they do it over phone or online? Don't see how this is patient first policy.

image I would give negative review if allowed . They add Charges which are not right and no one takes responsibility, insurance ask to talk to billing and billing ask to talk to doctor !!! . I got bill to pay $591 out of pocket even after my insurance coverage for my simple annual checkup which is supposed to be free .

image Me n my wife both went to Dr Saranya Jayakar for annual physical checkup and she prescribed some blood tests though we both asked if these are covered from insurance and they confirm yes, later they send us a hefty invoice against those and now no one is able to answer that from their team and i am forced to pay the invoices, its a robbery/loot and their processes are not transparent so be careful everyone before you go to them..

Business Response on Google Feb 16th, 2024
