I called inquiring about the orthopedic walk-in clinic and whoever I spoke to was very rude. I asked what the self pay rate for a visit was and he replied that he didn't think they took "uninsured " which I replied that I was self pay and I would be paying for the visit. He said again that they don't take uninsured in a derogatory manner. So I said then to forget if they didn't want my business. Very rude. I will never go there.

In 2009 I had THR on my right hip @ Vanderbilt B&J. It did resolve my worn hip joint pain. But during the post surgery rehab (shortly after surgery) I developed crippling lower back pain upon standing and walking. I went back to B&J and the x-rays they then took showed what the clinics Dr's described as L1-L5 Scoliosis? (typically a 10 degree or more deflection is the clinical definition) They said my options were Herrington Rods, which they advised was not recommended and in lieu of that, that I would "have to learn to live with it"? Also post surgery I had a DVT blood clot which resulted in permanent Lymphedema. FYI this hip joint also now has a Staph infection which occurred in the last three years so I assume not related to the surgery? So I had a hip improvement but consequently suffered two 'incurable' quality of life changing conditions which prevented me again from walking or standing unassisted? Not an overall great result. My opinion on the DVT is that post surgery I was not made clear to me to watch leg swelling and to judge between post surgical healing and a DVT. Prior to the THR, I had NO issues of Scoliosis or lower back pain? I can not precisely determine if the suspected causes for post THR scoliosis onset have occurred in my case. However, regardless of the considerable medical data I have since studied on the subject for probable cause & effect, the essential situation is this: I had NO Scoliosis in any part of my back including L1-L5 prior to this THR and DID following and 9 years since. The conditions that I was left with following THR at the Vanderbilt Bone & Joint Clinic have severely impacted my quality of life. I have recently had a right shoulder and left knee total replacement by a different doctor and clinic with no complications. If you suspect that your doctor may have hyper extended your lower back during surgery or that your legs are not now of equal length, the last person I suspect would tell you would be your surgeon?  IMHO"you'll have to learn to live with it"

What a horrible medical organization. Long wait times just to get checked in for appointments and unfriendly staff. I'd give Vanderbilt Bone and Join zero stars if I could. Avoid this place

I Love all and everything about bone and joint Doctor's and Nurse. I have been going there for Over Ten year and had knee and back surgeries. Dr Parson who is not there anymore on kind of a health problem was a great knee Doctor. I also like the one who took his place. Dr Klekamp is my Doctor and a great back Doctor. I just had another back surgery six weeks ago which was a very difficult one seven and a half hour long. I am doing great I cannot say enough about my whole experience which was ad is great even today.i would tell anyone to go there.Love it.
