On 07/18/21 I was out of state and received a call from a neighbor that my had a burglary in progress on my property. My neighbor then contacted other neighbors and they held suspects until Sheriffs department arrived. From talking to deputy Todd Cary and feedback from my neighbors, the deputies went above and beyond in their professionalism in handling the situation, especially for the fact I had three armed neighbors and two thieves they had to walk upon. Thank you guys for taking care of the situation and preventing loss of my property.

The sheriff deputy that pulled me over was polite, professional and level headed. I messed up but he pulled me over and let me know to correct the action and not let it happen again.

Last p.m. I turned myself in on a newly issued arrest warrant for an alleged probation violation. Knowing that the warrant was active and also had a bond attached to it, I called Johnson County Jail to make sure there wasn't a type-o and that the bond really was just $100. I had 3 major surgeries in the days leading up to this and I need 24 hour care and needed to make sure they wouldn't keep me because i didnt feel they were prepared to offer the kind of care that I currently need.. My initial contact with JCSD was very pleasant & they reassured me the bond amount was correct, & that they weren't super busy if I wanted to come take care of it. He let me know that he couldn't guarantee anything, but they'd try to get me processed as quickly as possible. When I arrived,I was met by a young officer, that had a very friendly face & disposition. I'd almost say he was smiling, but he had a mask on. EVERY officer I came in contact with was wearing a mask. This was reassuring in itself! It is important for people to know, that the individuals working last night, treated me with kindness, & compassion (im currently using a walker). I was spoken to like a person and I was treated with dignity. At no time was I made to feel shame for being there, and no one seemed irritated by the fact that they had to process me in and out of the facility. I believe the 2 women that searched me, and body scanned me were Deputies Pointe and Yoakobi (sp?). Both were very professional and efficient. I was incredibly impressed by Deputies Maxwell, Bragg, Golden, & Curry. These gentlemen did their jobs in a professional manner yet treated me as if we were all just checking out at Wal-Mart. I never witnessed any short tempers, not any sarcasm, disdain or contempt. I asked many questions about the jail, & about the effects that Covid had had on the running of the facility & the # of inmates. I asked about the requirements for employment, and college courses required. Not one time did my questions go unanswered. These Deputies were so very nice to me and took the time to answer me. They didn't have to do this, they didn't have to do anything other than process me in and out. They knew I was curious and they indulged me. Over the years I've had many encounters with law-enforcement and not once have I been drawn to wanting to make sure Deputies were recognized for going above and beyond what they are expected to do. Not once have I felt like Officers were concerned about my well-being, until last night. Several times they asked if I was alright, they made sure I wasn't made to stand for extended periods of time, and they showed a genuine concern for my obvious medical issues. Too many times I have been treated as if I had no worth, treated like (even told) it was my own fault for getting myself where I was-- so I shouldn't now complain of being uncomfortable. I have had instances where I've been humiliated, made fun of, and even put in danger by law enforcement officers (of a different county)& that is total opposite of how I was treated last night. I can not emphasize enough how much I appreciate how the Johnson County Jail Deputies treated me. They had a level of sensitivity & compassion that I've never experienced in similar situations. So I want to thank them. I hope your supervisors see this. I hope you receive the recognition that you deserve. And though you treatedme so well, I hope to never see any of you in that environment again. ( lol) Thank you for your concern about my leg, for the quickness of getting me processed, for answering my questions & easing my mind when possible. Most of all, thank you for not making this experience traumatic. Many ppl may not have cared, but you all did. This is why I believe that ppl should share their experiences ESPECIALLY when so positive. You guys sometimes get a bad wrap, and you just shouldn't!! You've got a great team, keep up the good work. Thank you all again!!
