Sellers AND Buyers BEWARE! They will not let other realtors show their properties. This make Buyers have to use them to look at properties they have listed. It also means that Sellers that let them list their property will not get the property shown to as many potential buyers. Glen Powell is the most unprofessional and rude person we have dealt with while looking for a new home. We made a 1:00pm appointment 3 days in advance to look at properties that he has listed. We arrived to his office 20 minutes early to make sure we did not keep him waiting. At 12:52pm we get a call that he is showing a property and will be 30 minutes late. As aggravating as that is, we stayed around and waited. 35 minutes later Mr. Powell had still not shown up or contacted us. We left his office and started on the 45 minute drive back home. 41 minutes later Mr. Powell finally contacts us to tell us he was ready to meet with us. I informed Mr. Powell that his communication was sub-par at best and that we did not appreciate waiting around wondering when he would show or call. Mr. Powell instantly got a very condescending tone and said " I told you I was showing another property and would be 30 minutes late." I informed Mr. Powell that he was unprofessional and that I do not do business with people that conduct themselves in that manner and that we would find another realtor to look at the properties. Mr. Powell literally laughed in my ear and said " good luck, those are my properties." I said excuse me sir but you are telling me that you will not let another realtor show your clients properties? Mr. Powell said " I dont necessarily have to." I informed Mr. Powell that I felt like that was a violation of the code of ethics for the National Association of Realtors. Mr. Powell then changed his tone of voice and said "let me go ahead and apologize to you." I told Mr. Powell that after the way he had spoken to me and the way that he had done business today I did not accept his apology and that it didnt mean anything to me. At that point Mr. Powell hung up on me as I was still speaking to him. We are a cash buyer with verified funds and he just cost one of his clients a sale. We had narrowed our search down to three properties and were planning to make an offer for listing price or over because we were that serious about the purchase. Your unprofessionalism, lack of communication, and pure greed of wanting both sides of the commission cost you and your client money today sir. We highly recommend finding a DIFFERENT listing agent or buyers agent if you are looking in the south Alabama area.
