My brother was at the end stages of cancer and so sick. I asked God for help because I didn't know what to do...he sent me angels..These women are so dedicated and caring. They went above and beyond to offer help and get medications..calling to find it for me. Thank you from our hearts for your help.

My mom, Carlotta Johnson, passed away on 11-23-2022 under the care of Compassus of Flagstaff, Az. I am writing to let you know about my terrible experience. She arrived at the new Bluffs in Flagstaff, AZ in October of 2022. They were wonderful caregivers. Hospice of the Valley had been her prior provider. I thought it would be the same with this company and it was not even close. A. The intake nurse was sweet but we could not have this nurse. Even though I had asked for her, they didnt inform me I couldnt have her until the next day. B. The new head nurse was difficult and asked my mom questions she could not answer. My mom was dying and at her final stage. She could not swallow and had very little speech. She did not even know who I was half the time. She did not need to be put through questions like her birth date etc. C. Each time the nurse changed, so did the medications. The new nurse changed all her liquid medications to pills even though she could not swallow. So she was having major withdrawals from not being able to take her medications. I had to fight to get them to correct the orders to liquid medications. I also had issues with the CNA that gave her full showers and not the ordered bed baths. My final memories of when she was most there are the CNA making her take a full shower and her clenching the hand rail and freezing with her teeth clinched down. I threw a towel around her but she moved it up over her head, it was terrible. She was supposed have bed baths only. D. My sister arrived to find my mother crying and not eating. She sent me pictures. The Bluff informed us that the nurse changed everything and no longer was giving her liquid medication, again. E. My final complaint is this. They were not there the week she died. They came out to check her but never late at night. My new nurse, Keri, was on vacation. The nurse on call did not want to come out. I called her at 11 PM on 11-22-2022. I had been there each night alone with my mom. No one was there from hospice. My family came in day and evening but late at night it was just me and mom. Their response to my complaint was Youre at the Bluffs. but they have one caregiver at night. So I never left her side. I called and told them my mom is not breathing right now. I told them she had very shallow and long breaths and was struggling to breath. I told them that I though she was dying right then but asked how I could tell, Can you please tell me? She told me she could not. Her reply was that they can not be sure because everyone is different. I said the caregivers at the Bluffs and I, both thought she was at the final stage. I needed help. I told them I was calling the doctor then she explained he was asleep and could not be bothered. She said he would not answer this late. I told her okay, that I wouldnt bother them and wouldnt call back until my mom was dead. I was angry. F. That is exactly what happened. She died at 12:40 AM and, then, of course, the nurse came to pronounce death. She asked if I was okay. I told her No, I am very angry and upset at you. There were no help at all from this company when they are most needed. You have a choice but you can only change hospice service once in ninety days per medicare guidelines. Do your research and choose very carefully; you do not have a 911 service. Hospice is your hospital and 911. They charge Medicare thousands of dollars and they also had plenty of extra charges. They are paid thousands of dollars from Medicare Billings for service. If you look at the explanation of benefits, youll be in shock with the fees. I can see they charged many visits, yet, I did not see them and no one was there at night because I never left so I am certain of that. Very unhappy and would never recommend them to anyone.
