Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital

I was there for 5 days starting in the Emergency room and had exceptional care. The nurses, doctors, and support staff were wonderful. Not only to me but to my wife also. What was a very stressful situation for both of us was handled professionally and passionately resulting in great ending.

A disorganized mess. Northern Light is doing it's thing once again by taking a functional healthcare facility and missmanaging it to the point of unusability. Lab orders get lost more often than not, requiring rescheduling. Automated calls will frequently call you, then hang up on you. When calls do get through, it's to reschedule. They called me to reschedule an appointment. When I showed up for the appointment at the new, earlier time, they tell me that the doctor they rescheduled me to see hadn't been informed about the appointment, so I'd have to wait 4 hours for them to show up. Employees and doctors are quitting left and right from gross missmanagement. Avoid ANY healthcare locations with "Northern Light" in the name!

Brought my son in for broken bone. Cna asked him how his pain was. He said good. She goes that morphine helps don't it? You want some more? It's morphine, it feels good don't it? I thought it was inappropriate to say to a young teen during an opioid epidemic. Nurses were nice though.

I have been here many times and had nothing but excellent results. A couple of times my problems were more than they felt comfortable dealing with and they PROMPTLY shipped me to Bangor. February before last, I went into cardiac arrest and my heart stopped. They jump started me and it soon happened again. This time when they got me going, it lasted. It snowed a foot that night, so they sent me to Bangor as soon as the roads were safe. Dr. Balin and the amazing ER crew are tops in my book. I have since thanked them for saving my life. I would (and have) DEFINITELY go there again. They have taken EXCELLENT care of me...on several occasions.
