I called to make an appointment and asked if they took my insurance. The receptionist was dumbfounded by my question and said I needed a referral. I checked with my insurance and I didn't need a referral. I called back and asked to make an appointment. I was asked the reason for my appointment and I said I had a lot of hypothyroidism symptoms and had been told in the past to get it checked. The receptionist was silent for at least 2 minutes and then said "So you're getting checked because you want to? No one referred you?" I said, "Exactly" She was silent for another moment and said "Ok. Are you sure you need an appointment?" At that point I was frustrated and felt superbly judged. I said "Can I make an appointment or am I going to need the referral, even though my insurance doesn't require it?" The receptionist finally gave me the appointment. The day of my appointment I was again questioned, by the receptionist, for the reason of my visit. I told her about my symptoms, she made a face as if I was demented for going in. When she handed the nurse my chart she made sure to tell her my appointment was without referral and because I wanted to get checked. Mind you it was loud enough for the entire waiting room to hear. I was very upset and frustrated, and had been waiting for over 2 hours. When I was finally called in the nurse was going to draw my blood but went to the front with the receptionist where they began to discuss the fact that I was there without referral. Again, the entire waiting room could hear their conversation about me. At that point I asked the nurse if it was a problem that I had gone in on my own hunch. She was very polite and said no, that it was just rare. I found the entire ordeal very unprofessional. I waited over 3 hours to be seen. I was told I needed an ultrasound. The receptionist made my appointment for the ultrasound and a follow up. She wrote down the time of the appointments for me and told me to show up 1/2 an hour early to my ultrasound, at the hospital. The day of my ultra sound I asked permission to leave work. I arrived on time to the hospital and proceeded to check in. The receptionist informed me that the order had Not been sent in so I could not be seen. I immediately called the clinic. Vicky answered the phone and said I was given the order at the time my appointment was made. I told her that was incorrect and ranted on how unprofessional of an experience I'd had. She said the office was closed and there was nothing she could do. She took down my name and told me to call her in the morning. She said she was the office manager and she didn't offer to call me, she said I should call back the next day. Service at this office is beyond unpleasant and unprofessional.
