First of all, these are nice people with good boats, and they are experts at what they do. But do NOT go with Tradewinds unless you are willing to walk down (and back up!) a VERY long and VERY steep set of stairs with substandard handrails. If you're 81, like me, and starting to get a bit iffy on your feet, stay away. Also, try to avoid days with heavy swells. When we went, it was like a 1-hour roller coaster ride. And we saw no whales anywhere. But none of the above should be taken as disrespect for Tradewinds employees, who are friendly and professional.

I was disappointed with our tour. While I understand that they can't guarantee whales I didn't get the impression they were actually trying. I didn't hear them communicating with other boats, commenting where they had seen whales prior, which direction to look, using any technology to listen for them, and the secondary employee was on their phone rather than trying to help look.
There was no commentary about the whales, what kind we were looking for, why they are in this area etc, I think they said the word whale once.
Combine that with the rough sea that had 10 - 20% of the boat puking we left feeling worse than when we arrived.
