It's been a couple of years since my teacher training with Amy and Keri, and my advice to anyone thinking about taking their upcoming training at Root is simple - do it. Now that I'm putting that experience to use, I often hear my style described as clear, concise and understandable. That's because Amy and Keri keep coming back to that underlying theme. They understand that the strong foundation we leave with makes managing a mixed level class a whole lot easier. The way the course progresses is a lot like their own classes - you never know what you're going to get, but you know it will be good.

Root Yoga Center is an amazing place- lots of natural light, gorgeous wood floors, and beautiful live plants. There is a good mix of classes- pay attention to the levels that are listed on the schedule. The Level 2/3 are definitely challenging- be prepared to learn and perhaps to step outside of your comfort zone. All of the teachers are thoughtful and experienced, and willing to assist you with your practice no matter what level you are at. As with any studio, every class can be different depending on the style of yoga and the teacher, so be sure to go to a few different classes to get an idea of what resonates with you. Be open and be sure to communicate with your teacher about any needs you might have. I highly recommend this studio for anyone who is looking for a challenging, fun, vibrant experience with unique teachers.

I was recently visiting a friend in Denver and decided to try the popular studio where she goes twice a week. It's an urban, groovy space with groovy students showing off the latest in yoga fashion. Teachers are predominantly "trained" in Core Power (what a shame) or Baron Baptiste's Power Yoga (yawn). The class I attended was okay, taught by a Forrest Yoga trainee wearing those ridiculous wrist guards. She seemed to think the more she yelled, the more inspired we would be. The class wasn't for me but others in the class seemed to enjoy it. It's a nice space but like so many other "yoga" studios these days, it's more of a gym than an authentic place to practice. I never cease to be amazed at how many "yogis" out there have no idea that asana is just one limb of the 8 limbs of yoga.
