I have really enjoyed sending my preschooler to Precious Jewels Early Learning Center (PJELC) and recommend the center to others. My experience, and my child's, has been great. I truly feel that my child is cared for. My home is Spanish-speaking only, and we had reservations about how my child would be treated because of the language, but Precious Jewels has exceeded my expectations. They have been very patient with my child and my preschooler has learned so much in the short few months we have attended preschool. We are devout Christians, and it was important to us that our child be in a Christian environment. I enjoy listening to my preschooler come home and tell me all that they have learned. My preschooler shares things about being a good citizen and bible stories they are learning/reviewing in class. I know that in previous years, PJELC went through some transitions. There is a brand new director and staff members all who are very kind and patient teachers. I have no complaints. My preschooler enjoys going to school. Academically, their curriculum is standard, and my child is being prepared for Kindergarten. I also want to add that the center is extremely flexible and has accommodated my family's needs when necessary (within reason). The staff at PJELC truly care about their students and have supported my family in the time that we have been there.

My 3 and 4 year old went to PJELC for about 7-8 months. There were some issues in the 1st few months but they had been addressed and my children seemed happy. I picked them up and my 3 year old was crying uncontrollably. It took 10 minutes to calm him down. I had to ASK the teacher what happened. I was given a brief explanation which didn't match the crying he was doing. Once home and calm, I asked my son what happened & he told me that the teacher told him he was going to whoop his a**, trapped him in the bathroom (where the incident with the toilet occurred) and in fact hit him. I was advised there are no cameras and because no one heard or saw anything and because they have never heard this teacher curse, and because of this person's medical condition it would not be possible for him to bend down and hit my son that NOTHING would be done! It took a week for this "Investigation". I was emailed this information, not even the courtesy of a phone call! It's horrible that NO ONE showed ANY CONCERN for my son. My son would NOT HAVE used the word a** if that was not what was said to him and he DEFINITELY would not say someone hit him if they didn't. I am insulted and saddened with the outcome of this incident. I am disappointed in the Pastor of Ephesus SDA Church and Director of PJELC.

My son was physically abused by Tarshalla Hanks, a secretary/latchkey teacher at this learning center. Because there were no cameras, She can not be charged. My 4yr. Old son pointed her out and said her name to his teacher & the pastor. He really loved his classroom & his teacher. I've never received a late fee, my tax statements, or an apology from any one after we left about the outcome of us leaving and Tarshalls still working there. Sad.
