Tarwater Elementary School

My daughter is in kindergarten and recently had to transferred to Tarwater from the Tempe School District, a school my daughter and I both really liked. But I must say I've been taken back by how great this school is! The amount of different after school activities that make available for kids after school is shocking, they offer Levi building classes, different levels of computer coding, kickball, and all these after school activities are made available to even kindergarteners. My daughter was previously involved in soccer and gymnastics through the city of Chandler so we won't be taken of these after school activities anytime soon but it's great to know they're there once she gets more acclimated.The only issue I have with the school is the parking lot is entirely too small, I mean way too small. Even when we arrive 20 minutes before the bell ring (again drop off or pick up) you will absolutely not get a parking spot in the parking lot. I feel bad for the surrounding neighbors because you left with no choice but parting sometimes to streets down in order to walk you younger children to class. The part the bothers me the most is I don't think it's the safest setup to forced parents to walk their young kids across the only access residential street leading to the school (therefore its alway crazy busy with traffic before and after school). I'm hoping the city of Chandler has plans to address this problem.The most important thing to me is the level of education my child is receiving and from what I've gathered to this point Tarwater is well above average therefore I gave it 5 stars.

I just LOVE this school. My son has behavioral issues from severe anxiety and ADHD and they could very easily treat him like a bad kid but they are so patient and understanding. Mrs Plumb is amazing!!! I don't deal with the principal much personally but she is very kind and seems to be a great leader for the school. Every staff member I have dealt with has been so wonderful to my son and to me as well. Mr Morris (3rd grade) is so great too! The Kida Express staff is also amazing. Me Phil is a great example for the kids. I just love everything about this school. We have been here for second and third grade so far since moving to AZ. I feel so lucky to have to opportunity to be a Tarwater Toro family.

Where to start? If you want a school that lets someone walk out with your child without showing identification, walk into campus with out signing in or showing ID, teachers that lecture you on the amount of time spent with your own children, a principal that tells you not to cheer for your children during an awards assembly, lets children get away with talking about sex to other children, blows up your work and cell phone for EVERY little thing that happens to your children on the playground, belittles you and your children, does not do kindergarten graduation because they feel it "sets children up for unrealistic expectations for their future years" then this is the school for you. This past year has been the BIGGEST headache I've experienced from any school, EVER.

By far the worst school I have ever dealt with. The office staff are unwelcoming and rude absolutely no people skills. My child whom is a heart patient turned blue and had trouble breathing and they failed to call 911 and instead waited for us to pick her up, they had a computer glitch which lost her medical papers on food allergies and her teacher was giving her foods which landed her in the hospital. Prior to this there were no issues however the current principal is incompetent and not once offered an apology or asked if my daughter was alright. The nurse was assisting me and even at her urging the principal did not call me to discuss the situation. Not to mention there was not much education going on mostly just prepping for the state test. Horrible school.
