image Surprised at the reviews. As a first time mom, I absolutely love this office. The doctors here ALWAYS answers all my questions. Even the nurses have when I came in for just shots and had other question. They treat my son amazing. Hes fussy and they always help me calm him down. When he gets weighed, another person helps when he doesnt want to let go of me. Ive called after business hours, and had a call back within less than 10 minutes. They always get me in when needed. Im forever thankful for this staff and everything theyve done for my son. Whenever hes fussy, they let me know to occupy the room as long as it takes for him to calm down. These ladies hold a place in my heart.

image My husband and I met with 3 out of 5 of the doctors and we were not impressed. The nurses are very nice, but the doctors are not helpful. When asked a question, we received an attitude as if we're to fully understand and agree with everything they say, even if not explained in detail. One of the doctors literally said to me, "Was the first explanation not good enough?". We walked out of that appointment and never went back.

image I grew up going to this place as a child and loved it - especially the fish aquarium in the waiting room (now I am 33, so its been YEARS). Now that we have a newborn, we wanted a pediatrician in Carlisle. I was a bit hesitant to go here because of the reviews. But they did have weekend hours, and we left the hospital on Thanksgiving, so we took the chance and booked with them. The staff that answered the phone to schedule weren't the friendliest at first - but did soften up and make sure we got scheduled in time (2 days after hospital discharge).
Upon entering the office, the aquarium I remembered was converted to a terrarium. Check in was uneventful & they pulled us back pretty quickly (hardly any wait time even though we were early - happened all 3 times we went). Now as first time parents - we just brought the baby (it did occur to us on the car drive we should have grabbed a diaper bag for stuff, but it was too late). We had to remove his diaper for a weight and he soiled it - they were more than helpful to supply us with wipes and a diaper. He lost weight, so they had me breast feed him and then weighed him again (soiled his diaper again, so it was no problem and they supplied us). Turns out he wasn't getting much - reason he was so fussy since we brought him home. So they supplied us with formula & a bottle and he chugged it down. Overall, they have been very helpful.
Dr. Waters has been amazing all 3 times we went. Very informative and has great bedside manner. You can tell she really cares just by the questions she ask and follows up with things. She also is very patient & explains things fully when you have a question (even the stupid ones/common sense...first time parents, so we asked a lot)

image My son was a new patient his pediatrician happen to be Dr Holly Hoffman. My son has a lot of medical issues due to having Down syndrome.
The day we went in I had hopes and I walked out questioning how the hell she still a doctor.
Everything that we had a concern with our son or we would tell her. She would question or make a snide remark.
We told her that our son had a severe cow protein allergy to formula. Because she questioned why he was on a hypoallergenic formula. We told her that since he was in the NICU. He had to be on this formula due to him having such a bad reaction to regular formula. And she sat there in her chair scamming his chart. Saying she doesn't see what we're talking about. You would think before a new patient comes in you would take the time to read his or her information. Considering how lengthy my son's chart is due to surgeries since birth she would have. But no she continued arguing with us that he wasn't allergic to formula. That there would be blood in his stool( which usually means lactose intolerant). So I said well what do you suggest us to do ? She said the only way you can find out if he's allergic is giving him whole milk.
Well Easter morning we were in the hospital with him at 3:00 a.m.. because her unprofessional information lead my son into the hospital. He is was severely vomiting wheezing and screaming out in pain. When we got to Hershey medical center we told the doctor what had happened. And the response was you wouldn't tell someone that might have an allergies to bees. To go into the woods to see if they're actually allergic to bees. To find out if they still are. In other words they were not at all happy. My son's stomach was swelled up and he continued crying in pain. I thank God we got him there to the hospital when we did because if we came any later. The situation could have been deadlier. The doctor sent her an email on what happened that night. Because he suggested that my son see an allergist to confirm that he was allergic.
When we went in for a follow-up with her she chuckled and laughed when we told her what had happened with our son. She was still holding on to her belief that our son was not allergic to milk. But I continued demanding that we see an allergist. And sure enough we did and sure enough it proved that he will have a milk allergy the rest of his life. And have to carry around an EpiPen.
Because of her neglect as a doctor and her crappy information. It was also very hard to get my son his hypoallergenic formula. Thank God his old doctor was willing to give us that. Otherwise we'd be paying alot of money out of pocket for it. Because his main food source is that formula.
I also want to make note that on my very first visit I was also very disgusted that she referred to my son as lazy. She was not happy that we told her that he drinks a lot of formula and that he should be weaned off of it. Again we had to argue with her that our son has poor muscle tone of the jaw and a bigger tongue. Due to his Down syndrome so it makes it harder for him to chew and swallow food. But I explained to her that he's working with a OT and nutritionist to gain that strength. But no she insisted that we should go see a behaviorist for his eating skills. We never went because when I told his OT this she said has this woman ever worked with a child with Down Syndrome ?
The fact that Dr Holly Hoffman is still a doctor. Goes to show how every couple years that they are a doctor. They should be evaluated for their skills. To make sure they're still up to par. So the instances like this could be avoided since my son could have died. And her disgusting remarks about him could have been avoided
