Ill start by detailing Ive worked for this business before, however it was before there was a cheyenne office; they operated from Casper.
This is in no way in retaliation toward this business, as this rating is strictly to alert the community of the inability of this company to follow basic industry standards and guidelines to complete work, do so in the workmanlike manner as required by licensing guidelines, utilize industry best standards and practices, treat clients respectfully, have pride in work at all as evidenced by their subpar performance, gross disrespect to property and area constructing this joke of a finished product, refusal to acknowledge the extent of extreme incompetence their techs exemplified and their unfair tactics utilized in procuring payment for a project that not only just didnt meet code requirements and defied common sense to the extent of disgust, but that did so in such a careless, almost abusive manner from even before complaints came in.
I was hired to demo out and reconstruct a tiled shower stall in a basement. It had just been finished less than a month before, and when I got there for the inspection, I very quickly realized why it needed to be redone, emphasis on the NEEDed.
To start, main issue was the pan and its slope. It looked like it was constructed by laying thin set and tile over a sand castle, with its lowest point against the wall and the rest of it not really showing much intent to adhere to standard technique and ratios for pan construction.
Honestly, my client refers to the tech as the Toddler Tiler. No exaggeration.
Anyway, the slope is atrocious. Wouldnt even come CLOSE to passing inspection. Literally caused her anxiety.
It was painfully clear by the actual absence of grout under the lip of the curb that he must have been in quite a hurry to get done.
Like the guy plumb forgot, except that there was plenty of area where he DID attempt to grout the area.
I would later find he WAS in a hurry.
Client mentioned he came from Casper (client had to pay room fees for week; Ace didnt have any a local tech to do project)
and was on phone constantly during project fighting with wife about leaving her alone with kids for the week. He even checked out early Friday to get home to alleviate her of her duties.
He obviously knows nothing about the concept of tile leveling or their purpose, as the walls and floor looked like a long standing game of Jenga. Uneven, over lipped tile spans the whole stall. He broke a small soap dish after noting two looked like too many (what?)Client disagrees, ten minutes later, dish is no more. $300 Vanity is taken by him to swap size, falls off truck, and she is billed an extra $100 for new, more basic, vanity on her credit card.
Upon demo, I find signs and evidence of incompetence and neglect throughout substrate layers behind tile wall.
Add this to taking 30-45 min smoke breaks a few times a day, quite extensive lunch breaks and trips to the store to break furniture and replace on owners dime with no remorse, its easy to see why they felt it necessary to charge double what it should have cost to do this project (before factoring in the motel for a week and accounting fir zero materials, mind you).
Id also like to point out that this is an account from my client and I witnessed only the aftermath in what is considered the finished product.
I did not witness his behavior myself, however, with the quality of the work, and the evidence of any shroud of ethical standards or regard for this clients home and project being entirely absent, it would appear to be valid and to hold merit as a legit overview of this absolutely ridiculous attempt at a shower stall build tiling project. DIY-ers on their first ever attempt at this project can even figure out how to utilize common sense and use their eyes to visually confirm the inoperability of such terrible technique. This guy instead resolves to consider it a successful project worth even a single dollar, collects pay and he gone.
