Over the years, weve hired many people to do things for us that we were not able to do for ourselves. Only a very few walked away leaving us totally satisfied and very pleased. Thorin Gustafson of Gustafson Guild is among those few and, in our experience, a very rare find! We live on acre on a steep hillside in town, and desperately needed help to restore it after many years of neglect by the previous owner. It was ugly and full of weeds. When we considered building retaining walls, one contractor told us, that hillside is too ugly. I wont touch it. We called many landscapers, looking for ideas to make our property more attractive and easier to maintain and more drought resistant. We were primarily interested in native plants because of those qualities. Those were our goals, but no one that we talked to understood our goals. They were all of the same mind, in that spraying for weeds and putting in a bunch of expensive plants was the way to go. Theyd obviously all gone to the same landscaping school! And then, through a stroke of luck, we found Thor! Thor is not a landscaper. He is an artist who sees the earth as something to be preserved and maintained and beautified. It took us years to find Thor, but within 18 months, he had our acre looking amazing!! Every time we look out the windows onto our property, our hearts are happy. Thor selected plants and placed them in ways that displayed their natural beauty and mutual benefit. We were so impressed with the level of detail in his ideas and execution. Thor is hard working. He spent many days on our property and he worked hard, removing invasive plants and their soils and bringing in deep mulch, and beautiful, drought tolerant native plants that really emphasize the natural beauty of our property. Thor is honest. He will tell you the truth, whether its good news or bad. Each time he gave us a bid, he always came in at or under the bid, never over. He always completed the job in a timely manner and to an excellent level. Anyone would be lucky to hire him!

Gustafson Guild did an amazing job on a restoration project at Paramount Open Space in Shoreline, WA for Friends of Paramount. The owner was very responsive and helpful during the planning process and work for invasive removal was on time and exceeded our expectations.
