Regarding Aurora Psychiatric Department: BEWARE!!!!! best advice: find a psychiatrist who has a private practice and does not accept insurance because Aurora psych dept is a scam. it is an absolute nightmare getting in touch with your doctor after your appointment if you have issues with the Dr's medication changes/prescription. i've picked up meds the same day they were prescribed and had bad reactions the same day i was seen by the DR, but Aurora doesnt care. You have to make another appointment to get help when new meds give you bad reactions or you can email them on mychart and then wait a week to hear back from a group of nurses who typically ask you additional asinine questions in several back and forth emails that further delay the dr from responding. other times they would tell me if i felt that bad then i should go to their ER. why would i go to your ER when my dr just saw me 24 hours ago and i am having side effects as a result of changes at that appointment!!!!!? Aurora wont allow their DR to pick up a phone and call a patient with advice about medication side effects/adjustments when you were just seen a few hours ago.

The meals are like delicacies. Such delicious, mouth watering food. I don't really know why the chefs and waiters are dressed like nurses but I'm not complaining. It's so good I actually eat three meals a day here. Brownies twice a day. All you can eat grapes. The like. Restaurant decor could be a bit less drab however. And for some reason I'm not allowed any real utensils? Anyway. Great food. 10/10.

The "care" I received here was more traumatic than the events that brought me in. Went from bad to worse in a few days flat. Amy Culver couldn't manage her countertransference and felt intimidated by my having clinical psychology education. On many occasions she likened my lifelong developmental trauma to a singular car accident she experienced, completely invalidating my suffering and history. I asked for deodorant to cover up stress sweat and was given the same brand that someone who nearly choked me to death wore. I was instructed by her to put it on because I "had to get over it at some point." She then proceeded to watch me completely dissociate for an entire 2 hour group and not do or say anything about it except write in my notes how weird it was. There is so, so much more to this than that. But I'll leave it to the state to figure out. Apart from that, if you or your loved one has real problems, go somewhere else. If they feel inept or insecure they'll try to kill you.
