Amazing place. Beautiful location. This is a hidden gem. Wonderful visitor center with authentic exhibits of the animals, rocks and geology of this fascinating driftless area. Enjoy the vistas and far off moraines and learn about what the earth was like during the glacial age and why this particular area is so diverse. There is also a wonderful flower garden surrounding the building and telescopes to see off in the distance. For the true enthusiasts, you can hike a portion of the ice age scientific research trail. Only about 100 people have hiked the entire trail which extends thousands of miles. Really a delight for those who love science and geography! A beautiful part of Wisconsin!

Hiked many miles on the ice age throughout the state, my wife and I and dog bango enjoyed this section a TON. In a few miles you cross past 21 lakes and the views change along with the terrain. Saw many birds, ducks, and a few deer. Not to mention the nature center was pretty sweet. Great place to see many animals of with tons of info from what to do throughout out the state from hiking to atv trails and identifying animals, also lots of Wisconsin history to boot.

If you don't like easy walking trails, abundant birding, and beautiful isolated lakes with active beaver dams don't come here.
