As a company, they suck! Horrible pay, yet they'll ask you to do hours upon hours of boring online courses, and frankly, their program is robotic and stupid. It boring to teach for them because they literally script every word you speak, and if you stray from their script, they'll fire you from your so-called "voluntary" position. And then they treat you like a criminal afterward. My advice is to find a different job. This one isn't worth the stress, time, or lost income. Oh, and your teaching supplies be prepared to spend your own money.

I've been serving as a reading tutor during this school year in the south area of Milwaukee. I've seen how their work helps build equal opportunities for children in challenging contexts. Being a tutor has given me the very rewarding opportunity to see how children's faces lighten up when they make progress, and I'm very grateful for the chance to work in the promotion of a fairer world.

This year I became a reading tutor for the first time with Wisconsin Reading Corps. I had no prior teaching/tutoring experience, but thanks to the amazing training support provided by Reading Corps, the transition into this field of work was trouble free. They provide so many support outlets that you dont ever feel youre taking on too much on your own. The actual benefits from the service comes with the overwhelming joy you get alongside a child youve been working with for weeks and a light goes on in their head and suddenly they pushed past their latest challenging point. Or when youve been having an off day and out of nowhere the excitement a child gets just to be in your presence makes you forget why you were even upset. I never imagined myself in the position I am instructing others but thanks to Reading Corps, the field of teaching is a consistent thought of the future. We really are changing peoples lives for the better and not only that, but its positively affecting me as an individual to grow. To grow mentally, to grow into someone who can be depended on, and to grow into a perfect role model for those around me. I would highly recommend for anyone seeking an introduction to the field of educating!

Wisconsin Reading Corps is a wonderful program. They provide you with all the training you need to be successful and they excel at offering multiple layers of continual support. I have a teaching background, but this job poses a great opportunity for those interested in education or those who want to give to their community! You will receive the tools you need. As a full time tutor, I work with 15 students (K-3rd) each day for 20 minute sessions. You follow set interventions. Being organized and efficient is a must. The opportunity to work one-on-one daily with students to improve their reading is special and important. You will be as thrilled with their progress as they are! This work is meaningful and I am proud to be a part of a sensational work community through Reading Corps!
