MacDowell Montessori School

As a parent of students who go here, I can honestly say this school is amazing at first. But then I slowly but surely started seeing how this school truly is. 1. The front office ladies are horrible. When on the phone or in the office, they have such an attitude and seem like they are unhappy and miserable with their jobs. I went in to the office to fill out papers and was not greeted, they did not look or acknowledge me, I waited atleast 5 minutes before they even said anything to me. There was no one else in the office at that time when I came in. A student came in right before I was going to leave and the office ladies did not acknowledge the student. 2. My son had a bully and I went to the principal she said she was going to look into it. She said there was no student by that name and left it at that. Then a couple of months later my son came home from school with bruises on his back. Come to find out my son was taken into the bathroom with the same bully I had an issue with a couple months before and the kid beat my son with a belt. The assistant principal told me she forgot to call me and tell me about this incident and I did not need to go to the principal about this issue. I really liked this school up until the school did nothing about bullying. I can say this though, the teachers here my kids have had are amazing. I have good reviews about them. I mostly have a problem with the staff that work in the front office.

The school is great but they cancelled their one year trial lunch program with Whole Foods. The kids loved the food, but now they switched to getting their meals from the system. The system meals are the same in every school, not just this school. All system food is immediately tossed by kids except for milk and an occasional pizza slice. Where are the lunch ladies that made good seasoned food with pride?

A good school within MPS, which is rare. Above average staff.
