I want to recognize the Executive Director, Alexis Resides, at Brookdale Brown Creek, in Maryville, TN. Our Chef, for reasons unknown to me, is no longer here. Ms. Resides stepped in and has been cooking our meals this past week (a great improvement I might add). Thank you for caring and going above and beyond Alexis.

My father in law was living in Brookdale of Mesa. He passed at age 100. He was a man that did not give compliments easily. He loved living there. As he put it, it is more like living with family. All of the staff was do loving and caring. Many said we should have put him in a nursing home for his last few weeks. With the amazing staff and the help of Hospice at Home of Arizona, he had the piece of mind passing in the home he loved so much. Great staff and the residents there always made us feel so welcome when we spent time with Dad.

My parents have been in Brookdale less than 1 month. Communication is awful. I was not informed that out virtual assessment was only an estimate. So now my bill is an extra $1100. I was not informed about the pet deposit or paperwork needed. My dad was so brokenhearted when he couldn't take his best friend at first.. I was also not informed that Patriot's Angel would ask for $750 to have a lawyer work to get my dad's VA benefits. Even though I was assured by them that they had worked with Brookdale for years & that Brookdale was very aware. It's my word vs the word of the new person that ended up being the person I had to speak with. So far I have had no complaints from my parents about actual care. Thank God! I didn't want to put my parents in a nursing home, so this was my only choice. If you use Brookdale, do not trust word of mouth.

I talked with someone in the accounting dept who said they would promptly send a letter to my email regarding a reissue of a check that is needed, so I could send it back promptly. I still have not received that email with attached letter. When I called to speak to someone about it I was transferred to the wrong dept and then when transferred to another area, sat on hold for a long time listening to the same recorded message repeating about every 15 sec. Very annoying and unprofessional!
