I have been a bridesmaid before for multiple weddings this by far was the most fun and easy experience. Truly centered around the Bridesmaids and helping them really make great decisions. to help them feel beautiful on their friend special day. Loved that it's by appointment only so our group got an opportunity to talk through decisions and work as a team. Very knowledgeable staff. very thoughtful and considerate for all body types I would say extremely body inclusive selection. It made the process seamless easy and fun felt more like a bonding experience. Not a dreaded "cookie cutter hurry get in and get put experience. Thank you for such a wonderful beautiful experience!!!

I do not recommend Bella Bridesmaid on the basis of their non-inclusive practices, both at a corporate level (we were told) and our individual experiences. While I appreciate that the owner reached out to me on the phone after a bridesmaid in our party left a negative review, I am ultimately left feeling like nothing will change, and feel it is important to write a review so that others do not have the same experience. The staff member who was assisting our group repeatedly made anti-fat comments. First, a friend of mine calmly and kindly shared that she was not interested in trying on dresses that did not zip on her body and was completely fine not trying on dresses if they did not carry her size. The consultant responded by immediately saying that she could probably squeeze her into something with a fabric panel in the back and that "it's fine." My friend repeated that she was happy to try on dresses that would zip, but was uncomfortable being sausaged into a dress. The consultant then pulled two dresses, assuring her they would fit, which they did not. The second friend, who wears a straight size, had exactly 4 options she could try on, two of which would not zip on her body even though we had asked upon making the appointment about what in-store options she would have that fit her. The consultant then said that they have no control over the sizes that are sent to them, and that corporate sends them sizes based on bodies in New York and L.A. and "we know Midwest bodies are just different." When the same friend had a dress on and said she could probably purchase the size she was in, the consultant said, "You're definitely at least two sizes bigger than that, that's an old dress so it's stretched out." While I assume the intent of this was to make sure my friend ordered a dress that would fit, the impact of a very thin person telling a fatter person that she is at least two sizes bigger was tone-deaf at best and damaging at worst. There were many other unpleasant aspects of our appointment including the consultant's repeated ignoring of my fatter friends while they tried on dresses while also fawning over our thin friend. She additionally assumed that I am straight (which I am not), and told me that my ideas of how our wedding party was going to work didn't "make sense." One of my friends left the appointment in tears. If I am assuming all of the best intentions, I believe that our consultant is just a young, thin woman who has simply not had any experiences that have caused her to consider the experiences of people who are not like her. At the same time, this store bills itself as "inclusive" and I cannot think of a single way in which that was true of our experience. If you are not an inclusive shop, that's fine, but advertising that you are when you are not actively working to make your space inclusive in any meaningful way simply ensures that more people will have experiences in which they are marginalized and shamed.

A couple bridesmaids and bride went into this store to try on dresses to see which colors and styles work best. We worked with Sonu and she was a delight to work with. She was very personable, nice and helpful. They had bigger size dresses that I needed to see how they fit and Sonu was very helpful in finding similar dresses to the style to try on in bigger sizes. I will be back to get measurements taken and order the dress closer to the wedding date.

Met with a young consultant, who overall made our experience stressful, fat phobic, uncomfortable, and simple put- toxic. Not an inclusive establishment. "Midwest bodies are just built differently than NY bodies." Repeatedly made unsolicited comments that were tasteless and rude towards the bride and every single bridesmaid at one point or another. Shamed both members of our party and past clients. Left our party to pour all of her attention into an "influencer" who she, repeately, reported was a more important customer than our party. Someone management told her she needed to be on her best behavior for and really be professional. Store atmosphere in general was uncomfortable, no music and no privacy. The consultant lost all 3 sales that day. I hope she is able to step it up and recognize how hurtful her words were and how she has a lot of growing up to do. Read the room, consult WITH the bride, listen to the bridal party, respect boundaries, and most importantly be respectful of differences in others. Edit: To the Owner, Thank you for responding, the consultant was a young, female presenting individual. She changed out apt from 1 to 2 people in the book. I was bridesmaid #2. I'm sure the bride will be calling at her convenience to share more details regarding our experience.
