River Heights Elementary School

This is our first year here, my daughter and I were excited when we first moved to Menomonie. Here we are 8 months later and it's a living nightmare. First of all, I didn't know that a student was only allowed so many excused days and tardies. Since Menomonie doesn't have school bussing in town, I often have to use the taxi service for my daughter. When the taxi company is busy we must wait for our turn, which can sometimes take an hour or two. Now we have unexcused late starts, which makes us tardy. The school turned the truancy over to human services, one unexcused late start and off to court I go. Within the same time frame my daughter's ride was late picking her up from Boy's and Girl's Club and human services got called again, by the school, surprisingly they took her and put her in protective custody. Now I'm fighting a CHIPS case because of this school. I absolutely hate everything about being here. This is the worst school we have ever attended, I'm already a single mother living with leukemia, then to have this happen to us too. This school/town is not family friendly. Our new home and new beginning has been a nightmare. The school never informed me as to how many excused, unexcused, and tardies were allowed before they literally put my daughter and I through the worst experience ever.

A good school once upon a time that has sadly went way down hill. My son a 2nd grader, excelled, well liked, said to be great role model, great student,....good kid,......gets gang style beat by 5 other students, video taped by school camera and absolutely No consequences to kids that abused, why? The principal and superintendent apparently don't want to do their jobs as it was a matter of a cultural difference, my son being only half hmong, adopted,christian belief is not suppose to like a full blood hmong girl , isn't to interact socially with hmong kids of a certain family and for breaking that rule of hmongs he got beaten, kicked , hit in head, ribs, arms, legs, back, stomach. No tolerance is suppose to be for everyone, public education safely is suppose to be for everyone! Doesn't deserve any star!
