I like what they've done with the place. Feels homie while also celebrating cultures. Dance lessons were cool.

The Nomad has been our favorite bar since it opened a couple years back. For those unfamiliar, this is a Soccer Pub and has been the best option for coming to watch Soccer in Madison. Unfortunately, our most recent visits have left a lot to be desired and I'm left to write about them. In September the Nomad moved from it's previous location on E. Wilson St to it's new location on Gorham St. Like any move, regulars should expect a small transitional period for management to work out the kinks. Sadly, the most basic aspect of a Soccer Pub -- watching soccer -- should not be sacrificed, but that was the case on our last visit. Regretfully we had to walk out. The main issue with viewing Soccer at the Nomad is that they prioritize Premiere League Soccer before other leagues. So watching Spanish League or Italian League usually means they will have to stream the match. This is fine unless there are multiple groups that need to watch different streamed matches because they can only stream one game at a time. At least that's what management told us. We walked in on October 6th with full intention to watch the Barcelona match, and even planned to watch an NFL game later in the afternoon with more friends arriving. Unfortunately, they were unable to show the Barcelona match because a group had already requested to watch the Juventus match. Both games needed to be streamed and the bar can only show one streamed match. This was a huge disappointment for us especially since we had to drive about 20 minutes to get downtown, find parking, walk a couple blocks, find a seat -- only to have to walk out because we couldn't watch our match. Big Letdown. One other complaint is that most of the staff seems a bit clueless on how to get matches on the TV. As a Soccer Pub, I would expect the bar to know the Soccer schedule for the day. It's a bit annoying to have to ask to put a match on. With multiple TV's and a simple schedule, the staff should be prepared for people to walk in. So get those matches on the screens before your visitors arrive. Get ready for the rush. In the end, we had planned to be there for 5 to 6 hours, drink, eat and enjoy ourselves. Instead we ended up back in Fitchburg at a Neighborhood bar and just watched an NFL game before going home. Not the day we had hoped for. ADVICE: Before you leave, call the bar to see if they can put your match on. 2 stars.
