I would not recommend this facility to anyone. They are short staffed and although there are some really good and caring CNA's, some don't care and just sit in the med room or on the couch. Residents who are nonverbal and can't communicate their needs, are not given snacks or water between meals. There were even two instances when I was visiting, and my mother had slept through a meal and was not given anything to eat when she finally woke up. I asked if she could get a sandwich and was told they could possibly find a cookie for her (I went out and got her a meal). I reported this to management, but it didn't change. This facility is quick to medicate patients rather than try to help them with behaviors (although they tell you differently in your tour) Residents are often found sitting in dirty or urine-soaked depends. When I asked one day for my mom to be changed (again), I was told she just had gas and the staff who was working refused to check her. My mother suffered from many falls and unexplained injuries during her 2.5 years at Comforts of Home. Some of the injuries, I would guess, were broken bones, (I have pictures) but the facility and hospice refused to do x rays (and didn't treat her pain consistently). She had symptoms (on multiple occasions) of a UTI and staff, management, and hospice were told about her symptoms, which were ignored. Falls happen, but 6 falls in 8 weeks should never happen. Three of those falls had injuries that were barely treated for the pain, and she was not allowed to go to the ER. The last fall resulted in a broken hip, and she passed away 9 days later. X Rays were not done for 2.5 days after the fall because it was a weekend. I would not recommend this facility to anyone who has a loved one with Dementia/Alzheimer's.

Do not bring your loved one to this facility. The care is terrible and most of the staff is too. We removed my grandpa after 4 days. Every day we found him soaked in urine through his clothing and in the same exact clothing that we brought him there in. I went multiples times throughout those 4 days to complete his cares, because none were being performed by the staff. Staff was very rude to residents. Very understaffed, but they kept bringing in new residents. I reported this facility to the state and to St. Croix County Public Health. If you have a loved one at this facility please check on them!

I feel I was treated unfairly while I worked here. I got let go after only 2 med errors, and 1 bad day. But yet the other girls/guys that work here, were able to get attitudes, med errors, call ins..ect and never let go. I do not recommend this place as a job. I also dont recommend this place as a place to put your loved ones. Because several times while I worked there, the call lights would be shut off and nobody would go to the rooms.

Management was extremely helpful in all aspects of helping me find the proper facility for my loved one. The building offers a home-like atmosphere with helpful staff. Management and staff were very knowledgeable about dementia.

MANAGER & ASST. MGR HAVE BEEN GREAT!! Aides Alicia, Jessica, Kris & Morgan all of the 6 above deserve big raises. They have all been so kind and very patient and sweet to a sometimes difficult patient. Otherwise would like to see cleaner room, better food. They should have additional staff. When managers have to fill in overnights because of short staff the owners are being very unfair to them. They have never complained but if you want to keep excellent employees you better rethink your plans. My husband was not a memory care patient but has a very difficult illness to deal with.
