My HLS 9000 failed after 20 years of occasional use. I could rotate the knob continuously, but the deadbolt would not retract, and it wasn't a simple matter of a loose set screw - the mechanism had broken, so it took a while to get the door open. Hoppe refused to stand behind its "lifetime" warranty, so I had to buy a $100 replacement from a distributor that I expect to fail in another 20 years. The finish didn't hold up very well either.

We have a very expensive front door with a Hoppe 5 point locking system. The door handle is not functioning correctly and we cant lock our front door. I contacted Hoppe, and they gave me all kinds of numbers to call for people that were completely useless. They dont have a contingency for something like this, that they say happens all the time. we live in Florida and the companies down here. Dont even answer the phone or have a voicemail set up. Hoppe didnt even tell me what the warranty is on the product. They just kind of pushed me off and passed me onto the distributor, which passed me onto the all kinds of other companies which passed me onto the next company who told me it would be $88.50 to come out and $88.50 an hour and couldnt tell me what amount it would cost me to fix the door after I asked. We cant even lock our front door right now and Ive been dealing with this for over a week. Nobody seems to care, especially.Hoppe. If this happens hundreds of times then why dont they have a fix for it? Im very discouraged with this company. And here I sit, the end user with a door that wont lock on my home. Just like everything else its absolute nonsense.
