In 2020, I contracted with Scherrer Construction to build an addition to my home in Lake Geneva on Como Lake. I had met the owner, Jim Scherrer, in town at a local business. I had recognized the business name from a sign that I had seen on Highway 50 near Paddock Lake. I felt like the company was used to bigger projects and might not want to handle a smaller job like mine. Jim Scherrer encouraged me by saying that they had a residential business side to his business and to let them see what they could do. I met with Jack Coshun who ultimately became my on-sight foreman/general contractor. Jack came to my sight and listened to my wants and desires. He listened and came up with a plan based on my ideas along with his input based on his knowledge of the business. Jack and Scherrer took me through the permit process and began the build. The nice thing about working with a larger company is that I had the confidence that the job would be carried through on time and on budget. Now I did have a few overages but they were based on my desire to add things outside of the original contract. As you can see from the photos, they removed a tree. They dug a basement in that area. They matched the existing metal roofing perfectly. I went from vinyl siding to LP smart siding all the way around. The build was done right and on time. I am sure many people reading this have heard horror stories about companies getting paid their upfront money and the second draw for framing and good luck getting that company back out. That was not the case here. and we all know what can happen with workers in Wisconsin in deer season, lol. If you can't tell, I am pleased with the work that was performed. I have to add that they transformed what was originally an updated fishing shack into a home. I for one am grateful to Jim Scherrer, Jack Coshun and the rest of the crew at Scherrer Construction. Thank you, one and all for a job well done!
