If things are going well in life and you are looking for the next challenge to tackle, please contact Thrivent Credit Union. We worked with Jill and had a very odd experience. The FTC states that mortgage applicants have the right to hear back on an application within 30 days, and this turned into a 7+ week ordeal. We provided all of the necessary documents within the first day they were requested, and as the weeks went by we would go 8+ days without hearing back, or would receive requests for documents that were not initially requested, told that we were the ones slowing the process (in the hottest real estate market since the early 2000s, may I add). When these lags would happen, I would try calling..no call back!At the end of this 7-8 week saga, we ended up getting denied for ever-changing reasons that were never really made clear.For those wondering about the end of this story, we ended up getting approved by a couple of other lenders and were able to pull the trigger on successfully making an offer, but Thrivent CU ended up being a hindrance more than anything.This isn't a dig at Thrivent as a whole, their banking and investment team is second to none, but the Credit Union seems to be on a different page. If you know someone personally here, by all means go for it because you may receive excellent service; however, for first time home buyers, I would stay far far away.
