    I will preface this with: I am active duty military and was traveling home due to a death in the family during my recent stay at Holiday Inn & Suites Beckley. During my stay we had a dog with us and he was accused of barking for over an hour (per the invoice) and we were charged a $250 fee as a result. This statement is false, we left the dog alone for no longer than 30-40 mins to grab a bite to eat, and once we returned he did not bark again. Additionally, IHG sided with the management team of this establishment when I tried to obtain a partial refund since the amount was so high compared to the short time we left. They stated the management said the dog was left alone for 3 hours, which is absolutely false. I believe it was another dog on the floor that we are paying for because they are too lazy to find the actual culprit. We arrived late and left to grab a quick bite to eat 1 mile away. Also the cleaning crew was still working on the same rooms when we left and returned, which means it takes 3 hours to clean a room? Dont think so. Furthermore, the cause of the barking was the hotel cleaning staff (3 members), that surrounded our room and were talking very loudly in the hallway from the time we left through the time we returned. There was atleast 1 other dog on the floor that was barking. I would also like to highlight the issues we had with the room. There was only 1 regular size towel available in the room and all towels/hand towels were a very unsightly off white/grey, the hygiene bottles were empty and also there was a bottle cap left on the floor between the beds from a previous guest, leading me to question the cleanliness of the room. I will never return, nor ever recommend this particular Holiday inn hotel.

    1. No mats in the family bathroom or hall by pool. My son fell and sprained his wrist. No apology or effort to help. 2 room was an hour late. 3 they switched us from a suite without telling us. Its one thing to change the room but not to tell us is not ok. 4 toilet overflowed and told me they would grab me the would get a plunger so I could do it Told them I would not. ( water in the entire hotel was running poorly) After asking 4 times and waiting hours they fixed the toilet 5. When they fix the toilet, they left toilet water all over the floor. After asking them three times to come clean it up. I finally did it myself. 6 after I cleaned up the water I notified them that the towels were outside the door and the next day they still had not come to pick it up. 7. After being changed from a suite to a regular room, we were still billed for a suite. 8. Billed 35 for 17$ purchase 9 Billed 187$ for double charge on one night of the room. 10. Billed 100 deposit without being told.(the deposit for the Dog was fine, but they needed to tell me they were going to do it). No one ever followed up, and no one ever apologized. Expect one blonde maid with tattoos was helpful. Update they have now accused us of destroying the room and smoking in it. Nobody in my family smokes. I have contacted an attorney and Im filing lawsuit because I cannot get anyone to even pretend to care.

    I regret to say that our stay at Holiday Inn in West Virginia was highly disappointing. Upon arrival, we encountered cleanliness issues throughout the room, including sticky floors, stains on the shower curtain, feces in the toilet, and stains on the walls. Despite our desire to leave due to these conditions, we were unable to find alternative accommodations as we arrived late at night with a large family, including small children. To compound the situation, the hotel's response was inadequate. While we expected a full refund given the circumstances, the hotel only offered $10 in rewards credit, which felt like a mere token gesture. It's disheartening that the management did not take immediate action to address our concerns and provide appropriate compensation. I typically refrain from leaving negative reviews out of consideration for the impact on businesses, but in this case, I feel compelled to warn others. Based on our experience, I strongly advise against staying at this Holiday Inn location. The issues we encountered were unacceptable, and the handling of the situation fell short of expectations.
