Recieved a callback 2 weeks after requesting information regarding services. During the call, I explained I had JUST gotten temporary custody of newborns so everything was hectic. I had gotten another phone call and asked "do you mind if I grab this call very quickly? It could be very important and I may not want to miss it, I will put them on hold, I just need to see who is calling?" She said "uh, no". And I missed the call. They called again and I said "please hang on for a moment, whoever this is needs to get ahold of me". The Children Center lady grunted, then mumbled something as she hung up. Is this not CHILDREN'S counseling? I Definitely do NOT want my child using their services.

Our experience with Children's Center has not been good. Our son was bounced around to 3 different counselors, the last one of which could not find a single time slot to schedule us in. While working with the staff to try and find a new counselor, my son's file was closed. I then had to resubmit all the intake paperwork, a portion of which was left off by Yasidra - who then tried to blame me for not filling everything out when she was the one who left the document out of the first docusign packet. Our experience trying to get diagnoses from Dr. Lam was also disappointing. While my son made some minor progress initially, he spent 3 years bouncing from one counselor to the next and not being properly diagnosed or treated. I kept him too long here due to limited resources at my disposal and I am moving my son to another clinic to obtain help because we are desperate to get him help. His self-esteem has bottomed out and Children's Center has been completely unable to help him in that, and many other areas. I think the entire business would benefit by scaling back resources and focusing on providing BETTER care to LESS patients. I realize the demand for mental health is incredibly high, and that this Center serves underprivileged and financially challenged families as a big part of their clientele, but the reality is that their rigid systems, ridiculous, inefficient protocols, grouchy office staff, and the host of young, inexperienced counselors we were saddled with, one of whom (Cat) was so rude to deal with that I fired her, isn't doing anyone any favors. That kind of bureaucratic red tape inhibits helping the families who need it most - so they are effectively preventing these patients from getting quality help with their inefficiencies. The one bright spot in all this is Heather Denbrough. She was the only person I dealt with that made me feel like she cared about getting my son help. I give high marks to Heather - but the rest of Children's Center needs to do some serious self-evaluation on how they can best serve their clients and provide the help families need with less bureaucracy and interference!
