    They did a crown for my wife and we paid our share. Come to find out from my insurance company that the procedure was not necessary. Instead of refunding the money we paid, they want us to pay more, on threat of sending us to collections. 6 people reviewed their claim, and all of them agreed the procedure was not necessary. Im going to let them send me to collections over this and document what happens here. I had the same procedure done at a different dentist, and they had no problem getting paid from the same insurance company. I dont know exactly where the real issue is in this case, but I dont want to be bullied into paying more for a procedure that was not necessary. Update: they sent us a notice that they are going to send us to collections. I dont want to be bullied into paying for a procedure that was unnecessary. I am more of the mind that I need to sue them for malpractice. If they would just leave us alone, I wouldnt be inclined to go that direction, but maybe thats whats needed to protect ourselves. My wife underwent a very uncomfortable and painful procedure that wasnt necessary. If they keep bullying us with collections, maybe I need to speak with an attorney. Update: the information submitted by this dentist was reviewed by a panel of licensed dentists, and they found insufficient evidence to support the need for the procedure. Now we are being sent to collections because we wont pay double for an unnecessary procedure. Update 4/7/2023 They sent the bill to QCI, an aggressive debt collector with a reputation for harassing people. I spoke with them and tried to explain that Gentle Dental needs to prove that the procedure was necessary, and then my insurance will pay the bill. They said I need to prove that I dont owe the money by sending a dispute to a P.O. Box, lol. The person on the phone tried to talk over me, and when I asked her to not interrupt me, she said she would hang up on me, so I said hang up and she did. Update 5/9/2023 The Better Business Bureau didnt receive a response from Gentle Dental, so they are closing out my complaint as unanswered. I havent heard again from QCI, so maybe I wont have to talk with an attorney. When I was on the BBB website I noticed that Gentle Dental has MANY complaints and a low rating. My new dentist has only one complaint and a very high rating. I wish I had checked, I could have avoided this whole mess. Update 5/31/2023 I still havent heard from anyone regarding this matter, and the the debt has been removed from the credit bureaus. It seems this issue is resolved and I was able to protect us without involving an attorney. It would have been easier to pay them, but I like to do things on principle for the betterment of our community. They should not try to do this to people. Update 10/27/2023 After months of thinking this was behind us, we were served papers from the Clark County District Court. QCI is suing us for the cost of the unnecessary procedure. We have 20 days to write a defense and reply to the court and serve their attorney. If I dont respond, they will be awarded whatever they are asking for, which is considerably more than the original balance. I will write my defense, including documentation of the more than 100 complaints I found on the BBB website. They have an F rating there, and they failed to respond to my complaint. Their response is to sue me, and all we did was go to the dentist and expect things to turn out the way they said it would. Update 4/1/2024 I submitted my defense as required by the court, and then nothing happened. Literally nothing so far.
