Think twice before putting your loved one at Bonaventure. When you think your loved one is getting the care you are paying for, know this care doesnt always get done! Care plans are not updated and there is no tracking of what care has been completed on a daily basis.

Unfortunately, the only way to keep my grandma safe was to move her out of this facility. Most of the CNAs are great, but due to high turnover rates and constantly being understaffed there were SO MANY times that insulin wasnt given on time or that her doctor wasnt notified about having troubles controlling her blood sugars that she had several hospitalizations for DKA in the short year that she lived here, including two admissions back to back during the first month of moving in because the CNAs were not administering her insulin correctly and she was sent to the ER with a blood sugar of 1100 one week and 824 the following week. I had multiple doctors advise me to have her live somewhere else She has had 0 hospitalizations during the year and a half that she has lived with me. My other complaint is that there was consistently no nurse around (because they could never keep one), and the people in the front offices do not have clinical backgrounds. I think if there were more nursing professionals in admin roles there would be some better critical thinking and strategizing on keeping residents safe and healthy. I wish I had better things to say, but when the primary care doctor tells you to move your family member out in order to keep them alive it doesnt leave much room to praise anything this place has to offer.
