    My recent experience at Pape material handling was a rollercoaster of emotions, marked by both acts of kindness and disturbing displays of racism. I found myself in their parking lot with my coworker due to a mechanical issue with my Mini Countryman, seeking assistance to remedy the situation. Initially, I was relieved to find assistance from a compassionate blonde woman and two other individuals who came to my aid without hesitation. However, what should have been a moment of appreciation quickly turned sour as a racist remark tainted the encounter. While we were resolving the situation, disconnecting the jumper cables, one of the employees callously insinuated that my car had probably been stolen. It was evident that this disbelief stemmed from the fact that we both are fairly young black professionals. In their eyes, our demographic profile seemed incongruent with the ownership of such a vehicle. What made this experience even more disheartening was the response of the other employees who were assisting me. Rather than denouncing the racism, they found humor in the comment and chose to agree with the man, further exacerbating the hurt caused by his words. This encounter left me deeply unsettled and disappointed. It's profoundly troubling to encounter such blatant racism, especially in a moment where I was seeking help and support. The hurt caused by the remark overshadowed any initial gratitude I may have felt towards the majority of the staff who attempted to assist me. In reflecting on my experience at Pape, I am left with a sense of unease. While I appreciate the efforts of some individuals to assist me in my time of need, the presence of racism within their ranks is deeply concerning and unacceptable. It's imperative that they takes immediate steps to address and eradicate such behavior, fostering an environment that is inclusive and respectful to all customers. Furthermore, I feel compelled to take action myself. I will do everything in my power going forward to dissuade friends and colleagues from using Pape as a resource. It's crucial to hold companies accountable for their actions, and I refuse to support businesses that condone or tolerate racism in any form. In conclusion, my experience at Pape serves as a sobering reminder of the pervasive nature of racism in our society. It's my hope that this review prompts meaningful reflection and action within the company to ensure that incidents like mine are not repeated in the future.
