So happy to be back at Integrated Dental Arts. Lisa, the hygienist, did a fantastic job. I love that they use the latest technology. They use Guide Biofilm Therapy with Airflow Technology to clean your teeth They apply a stain that stains the tarter so you can see the areas you miss with brushing. This also guides the hygienist as to where they need to concentrate the cleaning with the airflow so a lot less scraping.

Unlike Major (the jolly biting GSD of President Biden), my bite problem doesn't involve nipping at other people (bless darling Major's sweet, scared heart). No, my bite problem comes from *not* nipping at people and instead clenching my teeth so hard in waking hours and during sleep that now my jaw is quite literally out of whack. CLICK! CLICK! went the hurting jaw - and the other one - on Monday in the dentist chair, bone sliding over bone. My dentist shook her head and muttered "I thought we talked about reducing stress." Well sure, we did. But on to reality! She fit me for a spendy but already helpful dental device that will literally not allow the back molars to kiss each other, much less slam-dance. In addition to massaging my jaw muscles, I'm to wear the device 24/7, except when eating. (Aside: I sort of worship my dentist: she is a rock star in her field, she can fix literally anything, and she went to G Prep, Notre Dame (Go Irish!) and then, well - it can't be helped - the UW School of Dentistry. (Go Dawgs!) She is ridiculously well connected to other rock star dentists and oral surgeons, has won major honors in the field of dentistry, and is educated in the most current treatment modalities. She is calm, she is decisive and she will always, always get you in if you are in pain and don't have an appointment. But I digress.) Dr. Katherine Hakes put a rush on an order for this magical device, which in truth looks like a crustacean exoskeleton but less pretty. However it is already doing its job (although when I talk it sounds like I'm sucking on an Everlasting Gobstopper, which makes it hard to mete out stern "coaching" to underlings, ha!). Taking the 24/7 order literally, I wore the thing swimming today. Mid-workout, I felt compelled to sort of ... check on it. Treading water in the deep end by the wall, I popped it from its grip on my front teeth, POP! And not unlike the current Apple TV ad (butterfingered woman dropping the iPhone in the dirt), the helpful exoskeleton flew out of my wet hands and down, down, down toward the pool drain. "NOOOOOOOO!" I burbled, pulling my goggles back down, my trusty underwater mp3 player still blasting, the shuffle having selected "Electric Avenue" ("Good. God.," intoned Eddie Grant). At great risk to my eardrums, I plunged downward, swiping at the enchanted jaw fixer as it drifted along and ever closer to the lane next to me, where a well-muscled openwater swimmer-man rested on the wall and watched, bemused. Fortunately for me, no mouthguards were harmed in the swimming of today's laps, nor the rescue mission. And those laps can surely help me to relax once and for all.

Nothing but the highest praise for Dr. Katherine Hakes and her talented team. Recently underwent implant prep and sinus lift surgery: A+ from start to finish. All of my questions were answered, sedation handled expertly, and no pain My sister texted me the day before surgery asking about this fantastic office. I sent her links to Drs. Hakes and Elliasen bios. I've shared the text chain, and could not agree more with my sister's final reply
