TRANSFEMME'S BEWARE You should probably implore your employees not to just assume someone's gender. On a day where I'm trying to feel my best, these people's lack of compassion and awareness of where they even are will TRASH whatever joy you've managed to scrape up. I didn't ask for your opinion on my hips and thighs that you can't even see because of my purposefully baggy clothes. Disgusting establishment.

UPDATE: Within minutes of posting this "Trendy" Wendy found my IG and liked photos that included my face and my dog. That's fine; it's public. However, I can only surmise that she did this to send a not-so-subtle message that she can "find me." Evidentlty, her decades-long reputation of being awful is true and well-earned. My review: Against my better judgement I popped in looking for a theme outfit. My service dog was with me, as he legally always is. I asked the woman at the counter if she could point something out for me. (For correlary and descriptive purposes ONLY: she's the older Asian woman.) She abruptly asked about my dog. I explained he's my service dog. She continued by asking by asking questions she is not legally permitted to ask and then asked me to leave. To LEAVE?! Again, illegal. She's dreadful. They should save face and quietly shut their doors before someone does it for them. ADDENDUM: "Trendy" Wendy replied: "Im 50 if you consider that elderly but ok." Only 50? Ah, I see. I am 50, also. I'm sorry that life has been hard on you. "...if a question I ask is not getting answered and the person gets hostile, then it is my personal property, I will ask anyone to leave." You asked quesstions you are not permitted to ask. Further, I answered your questions without hesitation or hostility. "...our clearly posted signs saying ONLY marked services dogs..." According to WA State Law, service animals are not required to wear markings. "It had also just started heavily hailing on the hill..." Rain has nothing to do with applying the law. "...a business has the right to protect and set standards." You are a business open to the public and as such you cannot withhold service to a protected class on your whims, ignorant of actual laws. You must extend service equally to all persons, regardless of disability. "...to be identifying people by age where you go..." As I stated, it was a neutral phrase to describe the individual responsible for the infraction. Evidently, it surfaced you as the person responsible and by responding you admited to it. Thank you for your cooperation. "Trendy" Wendy, please take a moment to review ADA laws. From your statemets you admit to being ignorant of these laws and I'd hate for you to be found out to be denying service to disabled folks for unlawful reasons and be fined or shut down. Really. I'd hate it. P.S., stay off my IG. Blocked.

I've been a patron of this shop for YEARS, and I can't recommend it enough! My go-to place for all my fun and funky fashion needs. My most recent purchase, a set of gorgeous jumbo tiger earrings, was a big compliment getter during New years coupled with the Tiger onesie I ALSO got at Trendy Wendy. Stop by to browse if you're in the neighborhood, and get yourself something weird and wonderful~

Business Response on Google Feb 2nd, 2024
I’m 50 if you consider that elderly but ok. And if a question I ask is not getting answered and the person gets hostile, then it is my personal property, I will ask anyone to leave. Maybe your correct hesitation was our clearly posted signs saying ONLY marked services dogs, not emotional service animals are recognized by the ADA so we ask only service animals and no pets. It is clearly visible on the class of our entrance door and to the left of the door.It had also just started heavily hailing on the hill so besides being wet, if a dog is not small enough to be carried while in the store, we are permitted to ask if not wearing clearly visible service dog apparel, if they are. That’s simply it. A person has the right to get upset and leave. Or not enter. But a business has the right to protect and set standards.ADA only requires service dogs. Let’s see how elderly you feel at 50. Let’s also see what it matters for you as a white make to be identifying people by age where you go to leave 1 star reviews just because you don’t like it. Your privilege is extraordinary! You didn’t feel the privilege of going somewhere with your dog to look for a them party so you left a descriptive 1 star review starting with gender, age and rave. Bravo in 2024! Reviews aren’t blind under some post. Google is exactly that. People can be googled. Your instagram clearly shows you are not exactly a child to claim 50 is elderly and it’s clear your dog is not a trained ADA dog by the mess they made. I also have several personal friends in common With you. We have been in business since 1988. This location since 2001. That doesn’t happen by everything that a few entitled, unhappy people or ones who got caught in the act and think false revenge reviews are the answer actually being fact.We provide the best merchandise and service to the very small and yet vast community that is amazing to us back.Simply, beyond the fact we do have the right to refuse service to ANYONE. Anyone who is creating a hostile, racist, ageist, uncomfortable, environment is asked to leave with no tolerance. It’s a misconception people in retail have to put up with just anyone. That is also for the safety and comfort of our employees and customers in the store. Can’t please everyone!
